In the middle of a time warp

We are staying in a little town where we lived for many years, obviously because we have some family here,we have been back periodically. But this visit we decide to visit a little restaurant that we used to go to for years,as far back as the 1970s!!and we havent been in there for years now.We went in at lunchtime, and it was just like stepping back in time, nothing had changed!!The wooden panelling was still on the walls, the seventies style wall tiles were still in place, the tables were the same ones, and it all made me feel quite funny!!To think that the place had remained unchanged in all those years!!!..have you ever been in a time warp?

I bet the prices were different! There's a place like that in Shaftesbury too. It's a bit spooky to go in and see that nothing, but nothing is changed. In an odd way it is not very comforting. I like to see some changes. In my home town the places are all different, although I do recognise some of the old faces as they stagger past.

Indeed Gold Hill is there. I think he pushed his bike up the hill. You'd have to be VERY fit and strong to cycle up it. I need oxygen just to walk it!! There was a huge charity collection box in the shape of a Hovis loaf there. About three feet high and someone pinched it!! How mean can people be.

If its not chained down then its not safe!but yes Gold hill is spectacular, and I ahve walked up and dwon it ..lol but boy was it steep!the other place that I always liked to see was at Fovant, where the `badges` are,im not sure if you have ever been there, but they are done so well. The Cerne abbas giant is OK,but not exactly a place of beauty!Stonehenge is much the same for me,once you have seen it a few times the less it means, but at one time they talked of putting a tunnel under the road at Stonehenge, but I dont know if that is still on the cards or not.

Now,the three course meal was five pounds and eighty pence!,so you cant cal that extravagant!,but the whole concept, the same bar,the same everything, was certainly odd, even the dresser where the condiments are kept was the same dresser!!The old faces that passed by,..im guessing that staager was probably the operative word!.Shaftesbury is a gorgeous place,if my memory isnt too far wrong ,the lovley Gold hill is there, where they filmed the Hovis advert, and he rode his bike with the basket..

Hi ruby,
Wow! That's great for sure it will always draw people of coming back to refresh good and wonderful memories with loved ones and friends!
In my past experiences, I guess every place I have visited and hang out with old friends were changed...Only I guess the road or street was not..LOL!
I remember one time I went to a place where I spent my 4 years in High School...I almost can't figure out the place, very huge changes! Even the park, the market, the stores!

We usually go to the chip shop restaurant once a week for our tea, they do a good deal,we have a fried fish and chipd with peas and bread and butter, then a pot of tea each and for the two of us it works out about a tenner, the place is clean and its fine, its always busy, but the staff are good in there, and we take our time and make an outing out of it.They used to be licensed till the new laws came in,so they did away with the license.

good day..In here with technology and fast pace way of living it's hard to find such a place and if ever it's expensive to maintain one.

Wow, that must have been so weird! I can just imagine. I can
barely remeber the 70's (lol)! Yes I have been in a similar
situation and to say the least it is rather strange and erie.
I still live in the same area where I grew up so it isn't so
uncommon for me to have that feeling here. But every now and
then I will go back to a place where I used to hang and see
somewhere that hasn't really changed and it feels so strange-
like time stood still-guess that's where they got "time in a
bottle" (love that song!)

Yes .bottled time is a very good way of describing it,it just brought so many memories back, some sweet, some not, that were all linked with time spent eating there!and its the place that we used to take the children to when thet were very small,it was a learning curve for them,we always wnted to be able to take them out and be sure that they behaved themselves!!so this plce was where they did their practise, but it was weird..to find that absolutely nothing had changed!
