Compensate the rise of oil prices

Most of the news today say "OIL prices have risen again", "Rice prices is rising at a fast rate and its supply is falling".
We listen to every news and this are bothering us all. We at our house use wood to save money. We dont use car. We just use our bikes because our destinations are near.
What are you doing to compensate with the great increase in prices of all kinds of goods?

We don't drive as much and I have started making some money doing online sites like this one here. I am no getting rich but I am making enough each week to offset the extra we are spending on gas. I guess if I really stepped it up I could put a dent in the grocery bill as well.
