We have two types of schools here, one is a mission school and one is school wholly controlled by the Government. The mission schools are partially aided by the Government. I noticed that in mission schools religious knowledge is being emphasized while in Government schools they do away with religious knowledge.
Everyone has their own belief thruogh their chosen religion. Belief in a personal God, controlling the universe and entitled to worship and obedience. It is surely incontestable that this is a subject which is not only appropriate but a duty for schools to teach. Religious teaching is not simply about worship, nor does it centre on any one particular faith. The purpose is to instruct children, in their most formative years, about morals and the code of conduct to be followed by self-respecting people in adult society. Do you think that religion should be taught in schools?

Which religion should we teach in the schools? We have three main religions here: Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity. We also have Buddhists, Jainas, Sikhs, and God knows what more--all in one country, India. If we teach only one religion in schools, the others will demand to know why someone else's beliefs are being forced on their kids, and why isn't their faith being taught? So if you teach all these religions in school, when are you going to teach maths and other subjects, which the kids really need? Let the kids learn their own religion, that's what I say. Or let their parents teach their kids religion themselves. Schools should be secular.

I believe all religions have one common belief i.e. there is one God, who is our creator. Based on this we can instill God fearing habit in school children. It is more of moral subject rather then classifying it to be religious class, as it sounds too sensitive to many parents who holds on different religious belief.

In the Christian schools here, we have something called "value education" aka "moral science" for the non Christian kids, while the nuns drill Catholicism into the skulls of Christian kids.

I do not think religious morals should be taught in schools. Because people believe in different religions, their "moral values" may be different. What I would like to see are 2 things:
1. A moment of silence, so people can pray in whatever way they choose to. Non-religious people can just daydream if they want to...
2. A non-biased "comparative religions" type of class, so kids can learn what others believe. And they can be taught to respect what other's believe, even if they do not agree.
I know this is not a perfect world and this would be very difficult to accomplish, but it is what I would like to see :)

I think that morals and code of conduct is something that should be taught everywhere, and not as part of a religion class. It has nothing to do with religion in my mind.
I also think that all schools should teach the students about all the major religions in the world, adn about different cultures and norm systems. I think that the emphasis should be on the human rights set down by the united nations. No worship of any kind should be part of the education though. It would only segregate and seperate the students according to faith. Activ religipos acts should be up to the parents, not forced on anyone in a school. All kids no matter what religion should interact and be given the same education separate from the church or tempel or moske.

Religious instruction is taught in Church Schools in Canada. I think Religion as a Subject should be Taught in all Schools, but as a Comprehensive Subject, and Not as the Truth, the whole Truth, the Nothing but the Truth. Children should be free to choose their Belief system, rather than Having it shoved down their Throats. Catholic Schools begin to Brainwash children as young as 5 years,The Catholic Faith is learned by Rote, with no chance for discussion. Its taught like mathematics. This teaching Practice is bordering on Criminal, its been ongoing since the Dark Ages and should not be allowed in a Free Society such as Canada.

I don't mind religious teaching as long as they don't get students to believe it as fact but more as fiction.

Religion in school :O - blah blah blah those are the people who spread this kinda fake believes into young people minds. School is place for education not to learn about imaginary fictious beliefs of GOD. It should never correlate between Education and Religion.
I guess many of you guys here would like to take a look at a topic started by me. Myth about GOD's Existent. Share your thoughts on Religions, GOD...

I do myself. I started off in public school as I got older I had problems. Once I went to a private christian school. Everything seemed so much better. I learned better and also everyone at the privite school seemed a lot nicer. Of course it was a Baptist teaching privite school. Every friday the preacher at the school talked to us about the bible. Which I wought was a great idea.

I think this will be a very good idea. The actual situation of the world is deteriorating. The need for religious teachings in schools is very important in this contemporary world. Maybe it will be a good step to stop human from destroying its own race. It will create more respect and will diminish racism in the world. Thus this introduction will surely contribute to the world peace.
