I wouldn't go so far as to say that education makes you rich. There are plenty of poor but educated people around the place to prove that a degree does not necessarily make you rich.
However, I believe that education is important because at the end of the day, education is simply the best preparation one can get to face life. When you go to school for example, you learn basic skills like reading, writing and how count; but you also learn important life skills like how to work with other people when we play together. Education, should eventually teach us to not only have knowledge but to desire it and look for it ourselves.
Many professional jobs these days, require a basic degree as a starting point. As such, having a degree is important and people with education are more likely to take high earning jobs than people with less education. The paper, as they say, is vitally important.
However, successful education should be more than just a piece of paper. People who are well educated should have a thirst for knowledge as well as the desire to look for it and the opportunities that it brings.

I agree with you that education can not be stolen by anyone but anyone can forget the contents they learned lol.
For me education is a part of our life. It is as necessary as our basic needs (ie: food, shelter, home etc). If you are not well educated that means your future is not uncertain.
Although even a educated people's future is also uncertain but education reduces the rate of uncertainty. So i think it is only one reason people should get educated.
