Gee I Have A Mystery On My Hands Here

I just got the weirdest email from a friends of mine. Actually she was a friend to my mother's as well. My friend, Lisa isn't exactly a big one for words in emails...very short and rather cryptic...but I'm scratching my head now trying to figure out, what the heck does she mean? Here's her email to me.... B4 your mom passed away, she was aware of the storage bin in her name. There was a reason for this. Please don't tell them that she has passed away. I have contacted them and directed all calls to me. I'm paying it monthly. So there is no need to worry. Like huh? What storage bin, when did this take place, why didn't my mother ever tell me about this? After she died, I never came across any papers mentioning that anything was in storage. Now I'm dying of curiosity knowing gee, what's in that storage bin. I emailed Lisa back to give me her phone number so I can call her as for the life of me can't find her number..she lives in the Long Island area of NY. So waiting to hear from her again. But yikes is my imagination is running rampart here...what is in this storage bin? Are there prized family treasures worth a fortune that I don't know about?...Am I like Harry Potter who finds out that not only is he a wizard, but that his parents left him a fortune left in Gringott's and is waiting in vault??? LOL Okay to turn this into a discussion...has some weird unexplainable mystery crept up in your life...something that while they were alive some family member didn't tell you about but you found out by another source? This is driving me batty

I can't say this has ever happened to me, but I am quite intrigued by your situation. I can't wait until you speak with her and find out what is in storage!

I have not had anything strange like that happen to me but I think I might know what yours is about after reading it over and over. Maybe your mom's friend has the storage for herself to keep some things and had to put it in your mother's name to keep it secret from others? She may have told you this in case anything was ever sent to you via mail? I have no idea but this is my thinking.

It could be that as you said that for some reason Lisa wanted things stored but not under her name...which makes it even more mysterious then, no?

Oh my gosh. If I ever received an e-mail like that I would be on pins and needles until I found out what it was concerning. Maybe it has nothing to do with your mother. It looks like Lisa doesn't want a certain person to know that she has what ever is in that box. I hope it isn't anything illegal, but I doubt that your mother would have offered to have it in her name if it was. I have never had anything like this happen to me, but will be anxiously waiting to hear from you what you have found out.

No I doubt if it's anything illegal...Lisa is a good person and our friendship does go back many years..still wish my mother had clued me into all this though.

I would hazard a guess that Lisa asked your mother to put it in her name, your mother did and probably completely forgot about it. It was probably nothing important to your mother, but was important enough to Lisa to have it under someone elses name. Good luck!

Hi pyewacket! That is very strange. I am getting curious too! haha..Why is that storage bin under your mother's name in the first place? Then, why would she continue paying for it? Maybe, she probably asked your mother to use her name because Liza is hiding something from her family or maybe, it is the other way around. But whatever is the content in that storage bin, you can only find out through Liza or you could just blow the whistle and see it for yourself. Yikes! I think I will ask Liza first. Good luck in solving the mystery. I, on the other hand, haven't came across such mystery in the family except for who amongst my relatives who are speaking behind our backs. haha.. Take care and God Bless!

I would have no way to have access to that storage bin and it's quite a distance from me...without a car would be impossible to get to. I just wish my mother had mentioned something to me either way...but then my mother didn't tell me a lot of things..sheesh

Hi Pyewacket, that is a strange one I agree and to suddenly email you now about it is also quite strange eh! I hope she contacts you back and that you get to the bottom of the mystery. I haven't had anything like this happen but I did find out by accident that my real grandfather wasn't my real grandfather and this was discovered when I was vetted for the army and they came back and asked why my surname was my surname before my fathers surname was that, WHAT? I had to start asking questions and it turned out that as my dad had been bought up by his step father sincec a baby he had always used this surname rather than his real fathers and then when I was born I was registered in that name too but my dad then had to have his name changed legally by deed poll which was done after I was born so that is why the army questioned. Gee you wouldn't have thought you could have found that out by something like the army questioning you though...makes you realize that maybe the govts. know more about our families than we do, right?

Hi Pyewacket, Here in the UK the government have so much information that this wouldn't suprise me at all, but they also lose a lot of it too which is even more worrying. Ellie :D

i think most of us have had mystery like that. good luck on it. i hope its something great. mines bad and i'll never know the answer. my mom, before she passed told me she had 10,000 dollars under the carpet hidden near the bath room. my uncle and i pulled up a bunch of the carpet there an never found any thing. some people in the family said she told them other places. now, no one knows if she was just senile or haveing one last laugh on us or if her boyfriend found it first or someone else. etc. then, my storage was broken into and nothing of much value except to me was taken. they left jewelry and other valuable things and stole pics and a couple of keepsakes from the kids?!!

That's true, the old "hiding it under the mattress" from the depression. Banks fell and all. I think we should start doing it now with the economy falling! I've never had a mystery like this bunnybon....

ha! no, it was funny. even worse was when the whole family was there sorting out thing with me and i was up in top of the closet, pulling out some bed clothes and a bunch of old pics fell out. i screamed "oh, yes!" because i love my pics better than money. everyone came running thinking i found money!HA! yes, elderly people have a tendency to stash money and valuables in strange places.

Wow Pye, this is really weird! I don't blame you for being freaked, I know I would be. Why wouldn't you mother tell you about it if it was important. Your mind must be racing trying to figure out what this could be about. Why would this woman not want who to not know what? This is a real life mystery. Why would she leave you hanging like this? I don't know what I would do if it was me. I'm not the patient type so I'd be pulling my hair out trying to contact her and find out what she is talking about. Please keep us informed of this continuing mystery...

I cannot think of any mystery that came into my life, at the moment, but I'm sure it has happened. One thing that comes to mind was what I call the mystery of the loose thread. A friend came into work wearing a brand new suit, & while everyone was telling him how nice he looked, I mentioned something like "Just don't pull on that loose thread there." He promptly removed the suit jacket & kept looking all over for it, & kept asking me where I saw it. I kept saying, "right there" with him replying, "right where?" Then it finally hit him of WHO warned him about that non-existant missing thread, as we all just kept laughing. I don't know what your friend, Lisa, is like, but if she's anything like me, she's probably receiving & reading your emails with this look on her face --

That is really bizarre Pye. I don't think I'd appreciate that one bit because if it's in your mothers name then why is this woman trying to keep it to herself and tell you only what SHE wants you to know. Something's not right and I'd make it known too, that is AFTER she tells you what it's about and you have a chance to inspect the contents. If she doesn't tell you then I'd be on the search to find out more but I wish I knew how to find it out where and which storage facility it is. Maybe the police could find out?

That sounds strange to say the least. I love mysteries. It seems strange that your mothers friend has this information instead of you. If you ever find out what the secret is i hope you will come back and tell it. It woudl be so fun to discover you had inherited a barrel of cash, now wouldn't it?
