Visible veins of my hands!

I have this visible blue veins in my hands and I hate it! I wash my hand very often even if I came from 2 hours typing, I just forgot most of the times and when I felt so hot also, I used to take a shower right away even if I am doing a lot of typing work.. My Mom and Sister are both workaholic but they don't have these veins like mine, My Dad has a lot and I was thinking this is what I got from him..LOL! Or I made myself to gain thesE? Do you have the same problem? or are you very careful not to wash your hands when you are from work?

Don't feel bad i have them too,a lot of them...I inherited them from my dad,and i also have them in my feet as well...I don't worry about them, big veins are inherited...Just try not to dwell on them, and always keep your nails nice and wear rings and just forget them.I have learned to live with mine..I was sitting one day ,many days but one i remember well and i was moaning about them....Suddenly the thought came to me to just be thankful i have hands because i could loose them..This shocked me into reality..I can tell you this for certain ,other people, especially men,do not notice your veins. It has never kept me from dates or men flirting with me.....They do not look as bad as you think they do...I have complained to men about my hands when i would hide them, and they would crab my hands and look at them and tell me my hands are beautiful...

You are so welcome and glad i could help..Just remember there is a lot more to you as a person, and those veins and those are not important..Just love and embrace them..Be happy about them and others will be sorry they don't have them...

You got them from your genes, not work or washing. Blame your dad.

Hey - mom's can be right. We were talking genetics at dinner tonight, my neice says that she blames our side of the family for her nose - and she's going to get a nose job.

I have a few blue veins that you can see on my hands also. I think it has to do with alot of work we have done with our hands over the years. Some of my sisters do not have them visible but I do. I think my dad had some like mone also. I think it all depends on the stress and strain we have put our hands through over the years. Typing can cause those also. I have never heard about washing hands relating to them though.

checapricorn- sometimes we notice weird things about our bodies. The thing is, our bodies have always looked that way, we never paid attention before. I have veins that stand up in my hands as well. I think they're really ugly, but it comes from being thin I think. I try not to look at them, there's nothing I can do about it. Don't worry about hand washing. It has nothing to do with your veins showing. It's the way your body was made and some days you notice your hands more than others. Now, I have to remember to ignore mine!

checapricorn I dont think washing or not washing has much to do with the blue veins in your hands. External things dont affect the veins in yolur hands. some peoplelike yhou and me have thing skin so our veins show through more'than other peoples . You did not cause them in any way it is just that our skins are thinner than other peoples and that cannot be changed or helped.

Your veins in your hands showing has nothing to do with washing them or showering. It is usually something that people get as they get older. The skin on our hands gets thinner and the veins on our hands gets darker because they are closer to the skin that is getting thinner. There is nothing you can do about it, it is just something that happens that we have no control over. But if you want to, just ask your doctor about it and get the confirmation from him/her instead of believing everything people here say. I would if I were you, to so you know for sure.

Hi chris, Thanks a lot! I believed you are correct, this is just because of aging and thinner of the skin..Well, I will just divert my attention to other stuff rather than worrying about this..LOL!

Hi Checapricorn I will wash my hands before eating and after handling money or if they are sticky or something. I don't suffer from having prominent blue veins but they can get dry on the back at times so I will just moisturise. Ellie :D

The veins in my hands are visible quite a lot of the time, on some days more than others. I think a lot of it depends on the weather and if I get too hot they seem to swell and stand out really big! I think I hate my hands more than anything else on my body, my hands always remind me of a very old womans.

I have no this problem, but i can understand your emotion.I want to tell you depression has nothing to do with the veins in yous hand.Everybody has its own anxious things. Some are changeable. Some are not changeable.Ignoring it,you will find you will not care about it one day.

I can see the veins in my hands as well. It doesn't bother me though as I don't pay it much attention. I wash my hands when they are dirty and at other approppriate times as well. I don't know why some can see their veins good and some don't.

Hi che, I do find the disgusting blue veins on the back of both my hands. The conspicuous worm like veins make my hands look ugly. My mom doesn’t have this problem but my dad does, so I think this is most probably inherited from my dad. Among the four siblings only my elder brother is free from this inherited feature. I notice that those people, including my mom with fleshy arms are not likely to have visible blue veins in their hands. I don't think this is caused by washing hands after work. A friend of my husband whom is a doctor told me that as long as our body is in good health, this doesn’t matter much to us. So nowadays I don’t bother much about it anymore. posting and take care.

Hi lkbooi, SO now I can conclude that this is an old tales..I mean the thing that I believed and heard long time ago...About washing hands after long work! Thanks for making this clear to me... I do find it nasty too, but I have it and one time, my friend told me I have a hand like a male..LOL! I don't put it below all the time since the more it is very obvious,,,I sometimes fold them and place in my chest when I am standing or talking with someone!

We must accept our body as it is, if we cann't change it. If you are healthy i.e. if you have no other problem about health, don't worry about the veins. Washing again & again will not change them.

Hi Che Don't worry about the veins. I have them in both my hands. It's normal. It has nothing to do with anything you've done. They are good healthy veins. leenie
