I have been doing a lot of emailing this days and was so happy that I could do so much in such a short time & replies were pretty fast too. And this got me thinking snail mails are so slow and some might not even reach the destinations
But I do miss receiving nice hand written letters especially love letters from love ones. I would be so thrill and always anticipated the arrival of the postman every day. And jumped with joy and all smiles the whole day when I do receive any letters. Now I couldn't believe the uncountable times that I have read those letters and the excitement of replying plus looking forward for more after that.
That was back then and I used to keep those sweet letters. As the time goes by, with the emailings/internet,I really have forgotten the excitement feeling of real letters.
All I get these days are bills, ads/promotion flyers and more bills![em]rolleyes[/em
I think receiving emails just don't have that personal touch of the unique individualized hand writing could spark.
Do you still receive any nice letters and love the old fashion way of writing back to your love ones/friends? Or do you prefer emailing instead?
Thank you for sharing.

I would agree with you that today's email messages can't
replace the feeling that hand-written messages can bring.
It's really thrilling and more heart-touching to receive
letters.
I am not one of the persons who usually receive letters
even in the past. I only get letters when my mothers was
abroad that time but the letter was not really addressed to me,
its for all of us.
And like you said, I just receive letters like bank statements
and other bills.
But I usually write love letters for my girlfriend during our
anniversaries and special occasions and I really like the
happiness that it brings to her.
Have a nice day!

Hie Richiem, it's indeed nice to see a loved one happy and get dreamy over the love letters I know how that would make me feel and I missed that. It's all texting and SMS nowadays, rushing to get the message across in precise short words
I do hope this old fashion handwritten letters & snail mails would not become obsolete.
Cheers and thank you for sharing.

To be honest I don't miss writing letters. In the past, before emails were so popular I kept forgetting to actually mail the letters. Yeah, I know. It made me feel terrible and other people sometimes thought that I didn't care enough. And I simply have such a short attention span that I sometimes forget about things.

Hi Calajane, I tend to do that nowadays with the greeting cards, not due to the emails but forgotten to do in time too. I normally make up with sms, not so interesting but at least got the message through.
Thank you for sharing.

So far, out of my so many ex.. ONly one of them likes to write, hand written love letters.. hehe =D She's well versed in both english and chinese and it's often very meaningful, the way she expresses herself and her thoughts about things.. I just like the way she writes.. Even when we are together, we will write to each other too even though we are in the same country.. lol
I guess, it's the fun and romance that makes the anticipation of love letters even more exciting.. We do meet and call every other at least once a week or so.. And the letters is more or less, expressing what we wanna tell each other but find it hard to say it.. hehe ^_^
ANd till now, i do still keep all those letters because it's very touching too..

I have a few friends who still send me handwritten letters occasionally, and I write back.
I even have a friend I met online about 5 years ago, and once in awhile we will send each other a card in the mail. It is so exciting to get a card from her even though I get emails all the time.

Hello there dear friends, sierra! I totally agree with you. Even though I am a guy, the fact that hand written letters are in the brink of being forgotten is sad. I am quite a fan of giving personalized gifts or letters to my loved ones. And yes, I've received letters such as those too. I still keep every personalized letter that I received. I think it's sweeter than the usual. With the advancement of technology, sooner or later, we won't be seeing anymore snail mails or such letters. One more issue is that because, emails or messengers are more convenient because they are sent instantly, nowadays speed of delivery is an important issue. Presently, the issue is more of convenience and speed rather than the essence of the letter itself.

Hie Selece, hope you are having a good weekend. The sentimental values of this letters are surely irreplaceable especially from the love ones. So much of sweet memories and sweet words too. I believe it's will always be much better and appreciated if efforts are made, hence much treasured.
Emailings are like daily layman talk on writing
Cheers,

Yup, it'd be nice to receive handwritten letters or cards with beautiful hand-writing. Nowadays the only handwritten mails we receive are greeting cards - birthdays, new year, christmas & so on. Even greeting cards now are e-cards.
Though I love to receive handwritten letters or cards, I must say it's hard to send out - I've got terrible handwriting, so bad that I sometimes can't decipher my own writing.
I remembered sending a birthday card to a dear friend - was wondering why she never thanked me, until during one of our dinner sessions, she told us about receiving a birthday card, but wasn't sure from whom. As she described the card, then I knew it was from me. She was embarrassed, I was even more . After that, if I had to send anything handwritten, I'd use capital/ block letters.

Hie Bee, that was sure embarrassing and since she is your friend, I am sure she understands
Once my online pal sent me a card but I never got itIt would have been so cool to receive one...Sigh!
I have seen people carry their name seal/chop with them, perhaps that will be a good idea. And nowadays they have in cute shapes, caricatures, colors and scented too
Cheers and best wishes.

Cheers and have a good weekend.
