Hi friends, there is so much about yoga in the air today, but I just want to know if any of you have really lost weight by yoga and which is the simplest yoga exercise that helps us to loose weight and remain fit. I just read about power yoga, which says that just pulling your stomach inside and walking helps a lot to loose weight. Do any of you have any personal experience with power yoga. Do share your valuable information. Thanks.

Hi Apsara
How are you my friend
Nice to see that you are concerned to keep yourself healthy .. Me myself never ever cared to take care of my health may be the main reason is I am slim so I really don't think that I need to do something about it. But I know that yoga is very good for every person whether slim or fat. But what to do about laziness

A sage once taught me a Yoga which has been very very useful in slimming down.
First you have to turn your head from left to right and then right to left
Then you have to raise your left hand in Abhaya Mudra and wave that too left to right
when you are about to be served the second helping.
(Help! Someone is chasing me to kill me!)[em]lol

The exercise you have mentioned in the discussion, does help control weight, I won't say this way you can loose weight. I have been doing it for quite some time and I found that I could control my girth. Deep breathing along with pulling your stomach deep inside and outside does help. Else, while standing straight, one can bend forward and try to touch her/her feet, without bending her/his knees, this will also help control stomach muscles. This one needs to be done regularly and once you start doing it comfortably, duration can gradally be increased. Give it a try. Best of Luck!
Have a great day!

Give it a try (the first one) for few days, if possible, without any break, in between, I hope it will help you.
Second one, you may try as per your convenience, you need not come down totally to touch your fee, as much as you can bend, comfortably, you may try.
Best of luck!
Have a great day!

Hi apsara,
I have seen also a lot of people indulging themselves into this type of exercise and very satisfied...I have not tried that! But what I have heard is that it is more of stretching and self relaxation...
I guess also that they have different types now! Wish someone here who have tried will give you a concrete answer of your inquiry!

By pulling your stomach in will make you look slimmer but doesn't actually make you lose weight. Walking alone will help you lose weight as any exercise will.
Power yoga is the intensive style, where you move from pose to pose and don't hold it at all, usually in a hot room so that your muscles are loose. This type will help you lose weight as it is an aerobic type of exercise. Traditional yoga won't help you lose weight but like holding your stomach in will make you look slimmer.

Hi Foxfire, You mean if we keep on pulling our stomach in and out, finally our stomach will start getting flatter....please let me know as I am seriously doing about 50 in,outs, every morning ....and I do feel pain in stomach muscles. Do you think what I am doing is also power yoga.....Thanks for your reply and help.

It will flatten your stomach as you are using your stomach muscles, which will become more toned and not flabby any more.
I don't think it is power yoga as that is the constant moving from pose to pose style like ashtanga.
