I love my new sheets!

I had some nice 600 thread count sheets but they got so old that they ripped, and not even on a seam! So last Sunday I went out and spent $90 on a set of 750 TC beautiful red sheets! I got a good deal, they were 50% off and an extra 10% at the register. These feel even better than the others, smooth and silky and not rough and stick-to-your-pj's like the standard cotton sheets. I never want to sleep on low thread count sheets again, I'm spoiled for life! What kind of sheets do you buy? Satin? Cheapies? That new t-shirt type material?

I would love to have such a linen collection and the furniture to use it with! Maybe someday..I just bought my house a year ago and am furnishing it slowly. My dining table is an old laundry table the former owner left in the basement and I bought a tablecloth from a thrift store. Someday I hope to have a nice dining set and some nice furniture, but I have to wait until the perfect pieces come along--and I can pay for them!

We always use whatever is the cheapest, most often plain cotton sheets. We did buy satin ones not long after we were married and I for one just didn't like them at all. I guess I am just used to cotton.

I don't like satin, either! Satin is polyester and they're very hot, especially in the summer. The sheets I got are cotton so are cool. But they are a closer weave so they're silky and smooth. I didn't know the difference until a couple years ago when I decided since my husband had left I would get something extravagant for my bed--what a difference!! The silkiness of satin but the coolness of cotton, and I loved it. These sheets cost more, but they last a lot longer. You can buy ten sets of the cheapest sheets over a period of about six years or you can buy one set of the high quality. Cotton is wonderful, it's the best stuff for anything that touches our bodies. But there are different qualities and the higher the thread count, the softer and silkier the cloth. Try it when you can, you'll love it. This was a big sacrifice for me but it's worth it.

I rarely sleep in the summer months, but when I lay down it has to be on high quality sheets. I always look for a good sale and won't buy until they are at least 50% off. I admit have spent a lot; however, never $90, so they better be perfect.

I didn't want to spend that much, but they're worth it. I bought my other set from a factory outlet and I think that's why they only last a year. I liked the price, though, at $40! These were a little over twice as much but they're not "seconds" so I think they may last a lot longer. I don't sleep very well in the summer, either, I'm very sensitive to heat. I have a fan going and the a/c turned down to 73 at night and I'm still uncomfortable. I hate to rush the season instead of appreciating every moment but I can hardly wait for the cold weather!

I think the better quality, denser sheets will also last longer. If I bought cheap, 200 thread count sheets I'd be buying a new set once or twice a year and they wouldn't feel nearly as nice! Sometimes the cheapest things are false economy.

I wasn't going to but after a few months on regular low count cotton sheets I was miserable. And my mom, always so good at talking me into buying things for myself, pointed out that you can't put a price on a good night's sleep! She uses satin. My dogs love the sheets, too!
