Are you talking about child descipline? Base on the saying, it clearly say that if you dont punish the child at the early age. She or he will be spoiled when he grow up. That is very true, descipline must start at young age.

Yeah, I agree. Not necessarily a spanking, but discipline that works without becoming abusive must start early in the informative years. As soon as a child starts understanding they must be taught what is or is not acceptable behavior. I have seen too many parents wait too long to even start and then are at their wits end with a child that simply will not listen. A shame, really.

Oh, we were posting at the same time. Sorry. There probably is some basis to old sayings. That is not to say the are 100% correct, but it makes you ponder the idea and that is what the saying is probably supposed to do :)

I'm not really sure about that but I think some of them may be correct but not all. The old saying are mostly some of the things the old people get from their experience.

I think they are mostly true but you also have to contextualize them. The one you quoted talked about a rod but we don't have to take it literally, the meaning is still true even if maybe now children are educated in a different way.

I think old saying are most of the correct 100% if you compare it with our life now, old saying come from the experience of life they have got before. I have an old saying and I believe in it 100% and I think it is true and you can compare it with any situation you have in your life it says "Don't say it is sugar till you taste it", that mean you don't be hurry in your answer about things till you test them. Have a nice day.

old saying is almost always correct because they have more experience.let us assume you 20 year old and the oldest person in your family is 45 year old.so they have an extra experience of 25 years.he face the world more than you.and the experience is also the very important key of surviving in this world.now the things are change very rapidly.and they are also belong from this world.so don't ignore them, listen and add your experience. there is saying in our area(always told by some old one when we are trying to ignore their decision) that our hairs have not become gray due to sunshine.means we have more experience than you.

I am sorry but I don't agree with you.Of course old sayings are experience but I think everything in the world is changing and some old sayings must be no effect now.It is only my point of view, and you can hold yours.

well I was never physically, violently or abuseively disciplined, and I'm far from spoiled. I'm a decent well rounded person who makes my mother proud. as are most people who weren't hit by their parents in childhood or adulthood. so we've debunked that one. any others you particularly want done?

I don't believe all old sayings are correct. One I think that is very wrong is 'The customer is always right' that is really a lie. Some customers can be downright rude, obnoxious and mean. Not to mention they themselves will lie to get a deal on something, how can that be correct? No, I don't agree that old sayings are always correct.

Yes.I agree with you but to the salesmen and saleswomen, customers are their god, right? So what customers said is always correct.Hehehe...
