Hello everyone,
I was just surfing the net looking for oldies music, and I run into this site, It show what happen the year you were born. It's very interesting. I was born in 1952, back then, gas was at 20 cents, can you believe that. Now it's almost 5.00 dollars. A brand new home $9,050.00. wages were at 3,850.00 a year. Take a look and see what was going on in the year you were born.

i was born in 1985. I actually have a magnet that's "the year you were born" It's SICK how bad inflation is...it really shows the bad state of the economy now when you see how much prices have skyrocketed. For example, gas was $1.09/gallon when i was born in 1985. When i started driving in 2002, gas was $1.32/gallon. So, it went up 13 cents in 17 years. Hmm and now it goes up that much every week!! Scary if you think about it.
Average income was $22,138.00 which is funny b/c i only make a couple thousand more than that now, 23 years later, so incomes around here have stayed the same while prices have skyrocketed. Loaf of bread was 96 cents. Gallon of milk was $2.31. A new ca cost $9,011. And a new house cost $89,331.

Hi rarrimalion
thank you for your response. When I started to drive back 1971, i was able to fill up my tank with 5.00 dollars. It's sad how everything keeps going up except our salaires. I believe they should also keep up with the economy. I wonder how everything is going to be when our kids have kids. How will this world turn out. Kind of scary to just think about it.

It is pretty interesting to see what all has changed since the year of your birth. A lot happens over the years. Just think our great great grand kids will think the prices we pay now are cheap.

Yes your year was lucky. In my year, Britain announces it has Atomic Bomb, they also tested a live atomic bomb in Yuca Flat, Nevada and was shown on TV. California has the largest earthquake, 3300 die of polio and 57,000 children are paralyzed. i remember going to school once a year to take the sugar cube for polio. I really enjoy the year I was born. We were poor, but we knew how to have fun at kids. I use to collect bottle caps and play with them. Thank for your response. Have a great day.
