Babies love of cell phones

My daughter is FASCINATED with my cell phone. For someone she wants to play with it more than anything else she can get her hands on. She has figured out she can dig through my purse to find it and always throws it on the ground. She has toy cell phones but these do not interest her at all. So I am curious, why do you think babies are so enthralled with cell phones? And only the real ones? Mine does not even make cool noises or flashing lights like the toy ones. Go figure!

Maybe what you could do is, if you have an old phone that noone uses anymore givve it to your daughter and allow her to use this as 'her phone'. I know my boyfriend mum did this with her granddaughter. She ws 4 years old and could take photos and make videos and obviously not realise she was doing it. They would charge the phone up for her so that she could use the functions but it didnt have a SIM card in it or if it did, it was a pay as you go one!! Im not sure what the attraction is, maybe its becasue she knows shes not allowed to play with it that she does so!! best of luck!!

good idea. I have used the old one but I think she does not get any enjoyment out of it because it does not light up. Great idea to charge it so she can at least push the buttons. I am def going to do it! Thanks for the great idea.

I see this a lot in the restaurant where I work..I'm still doing a double take when I see a baby with somebody's (expensive?) phone in it's mouth as a chew toy! I don't think they're shockproof enough to bounce on a hardwood floor..and when was the last time you cleaned YOUR phone? Did You know one of the dirtiest places in your home is probably the fridge door handle?! (from my short list of things that tend to be overlooked when doing the hygiene cleaning!)

Yeah my phone has survived a lot of falls. It still works fine! It is dinged up on the corners though. As for the phone and the fridge I always wipe them down with clorox wipes. I always hit the door knobs, cabinet handles, fridge, all the phones, and anything else that I think is a pretty big germ hot spot on a regular basis. If I do not use a wipe, I wield a mean can of spray disenfectant!!

Probably because they see their parents and other people talking to the phones and figure they're pretty important. They make ringing sounds and they light up when a call comes in. How can babies NOT like cell phones? Even if yours doesn't have all the bells and whistles, it's yours and you think it's fairly important so she does, too.

My girls are 4 and 2 and still love playing with my mobile phone, i dont mind if there is no credit on there because they cant do any harm lol they both have their own though (old ones that dont work and are no use to anyone one was put through the wash) and that keeps them happy and away from mine!
