Have you ever attended a cat in labour? I am doing so right now, I just skipped back home from my neighbours to get my medication and I'm running back right now. I just got so excited I had to share! I totally freaked when I saw the second kitten was born upside down but this is a more normal thing with cats I found out and luckily both are breathing and seem healthy. The third one is coming up and I'm of again. Will post pics later.

Nature is fascinaing isn't it? The thing I find really cool, is the second one waits to be born after the first one is cleaned up, then the next, and so on. I have seen labor several times and I am always in awe.

It's beautiful how nature takes it's course, I agree 100% with you. The cat who had this litter is still pretty young and this is her first litter but she was very motherly straight away and she knew just what to do. I guess people are much worse first time mothers as we need help from the hospital, etc., and these cats just somehow instinctively know what to do. It's wonderfull.

It is a beautiful (albeit smelly) thing to watch isn't it? My cat just had to come to me when it was her time and had her babies right in the middle of my bed. I did help with the cleaning up of the babies and a wash load of bed linens later all was well with everyone at home. She was so proud of her new family.

It's a lovely thing to see, the third was just born and it was a bit scary as it hardly moved and she didn't start grooming for a while but now it's drinking and it seems to be ok. The fourth is up if we are not mistaking...

No, but that's ok, I love this cat dearly too and the beauty was that when she had her first kitten (and this is her first litter ever) she didn't want me to go away and she crawled up, kitten half hanging out, when I was giving her space. So to keep her in the right place and at peace I have stroked her head all the way through the labour and on the final push she was meowing very loudly and looking me straight in the eye, it was hearttouching.

Hi, thanks so much! She has had three so far and we do believe she has another one coming, sometimes it can take up to three days between two kittens being born (!) so we'll keep an eye out. My neighbours son will transfer the pictures to his laptop and send them to me so I can post them then .

Are the babies OK now? I hope so. I'm so happy to hear about your new additions. We had a litter this past year that did not survive. It made me so sad. Best of luck for your new babies! Kittens are so precious when they are tiny. They grow up pretty cute too!

It's very scary to see when a kitten allmost does not survive as the third one had a hard time but luckily is ok now. They weigh in at: 113 grams, 119 grams and the last struggling kitty is a stunning 128 grams! A big one! . Mom was great and is very good with her first litter. The kittens are my neighbours but I was with the labour and the odd thing was that her cat wanted to get close to me when giving birth. She came out of her box with the kitten half hanging out of her wanting to be stroked by me and having the baby half on my lap. I didn't know what to do because I was ok with it when she was just having contractions and I didn't want to make her feel like I wasn't supporting her so I sat down by the box, she came back looked me in the eye, gave a heartshreading meow and the first one flooped out of her behind in one fluid movement. Man, how I wish that would happen with my first born, LOL!It was very touching and because of this magical moment my parents convinced me we should take that kitty home in a couple of weeks, it's destined to be they say because the mother allmost threw it in my lap anyway . Wonderfull...
