Why girls like reading more than boys?

Honestly I think that girls have a longer attention span than most guys. Most guys get bored of a book because it doesn't hold their attention for that long. I think guys want more of TV and video games because they see how those objects move unlike in a book that you have to use your imagination and for most guys they find it troublesome. Just for clarification, I am a boy but I really love to read a lot too.

Hi,sweetlady10. I have seen more girls reading than boys too. I think boys treats reading less of an activity than girls do. They like more animated hobbies such as watching TV,playing basketballs. Or i guess it takes longer for a boy to learn to read than a girl does. I remember i started reading novels when i was only nine or ten. Reading is a very rewarding hobby and i think boys are encouraged to read more and they serve a good reading model for their children when they set up a family.

I wouldn't say girls like reading more than boys. Maybe the media prorays it that way, in the toys and hobbies they pitch to each gender as children, who knows? My husband absolutely loves to read, and loves it when I give him books for Christmas or his birthday. He also loves to cook, too. I loe giing him cookbooks as gifts. My husband has managed to betray every gender stereotype there is.

Can't say I completely agree with you on that thought. I like to read--books, graphic novels, magazines, comics-- but my brother's a more voracious reader than I am. A good number of other male friends read a lot too, though they prefer reading e-books.

Yes, one of my favorite hobbies is reading and my favorite place to hang out is Barnes and Nobles since they have every type of book available. Guys are so addicted to video games ,and is so hard to get them to read a book.

I'm a girl and I love to read ever since I learned to. I guess boys in general are not so much into reading because they're more visual. Whereas girls are more imaginative. . . there is a scientific explanation to that am sure, uhmm, read that somewhere.
