I am having a hysterectomy on Wednesday to relieve the cronic pain I have. My pain has started a long time ago, but progressively got worse. I went to my primary care provider who told me that I had a cyst, although he never ordered tests. after going back to him almost once a week for 5 months, he finally sent me to an ob/gyn. the doctor there ordered a series of tests and found my insides are full of scar tissue, and has attached the fallopian tube to my uterus. the pain I am having is caused by all of this plus my left overy that has cysts all over it. Have you had problems getting your doctor to take you seriously? let me know what you do about it.

I went to a dermatologist with a mole that all the markings of being cancerous. He didn't take me serious, insisted it was nothing. I insisted on a biopsy. After a bit of back and forth he gave in and did the biopsy. Three days later his office called and told me I need to come in ASAP and have it removed. It was cancerous and fast growing. Fortunately it was caught in time that a large scale removal was sufficient to take care of things. If I would have believed that doctor and not insisted on the biopsy (keep in mind that this thing only appeared a year earlier and grew to the size of my thumbnail) I might have cost me my life. I trust my intuition. If a doctor says it's nothing, and I have a feeling it could be bad, I insist on further tests. If necessary, I will see another doctor.
My husband had abdominal pain, well actually still has. Anyhow, one doctor suggested it was from his GERD, but the pain was not in the stomach. Another suggested he may have something in his intestines and did a colonoscopy. Nothing of course. Two doctors felt around in the area where the appendix is, but the pain wasn't even there. Plus his appendix was taken out a few years ago. I guess the scar and my husband telling them it was already out wasn't obvious enough? One doctor finally ordered tests. Gallstone, and a whopper. The surgeon recommended to wait to take the gall bladder out until the pain is severe. At that point we had seen the fifth doctor, two of which seemed to have thought my husband just made up things. Why does it take five doctors for a gallstone diagnosis?
I hope your surgery goes well and your pain will be gone. Lesson learned, don't hesitate to get a second opinion, or third, or fifth..... Doctors are only humans and humans are still prone to errors.

thank you for sharing your experience with me, it has made me feel a lot better about everything. I should have insisted on a second opinion when the pain started, but as I am not used to being sick and going to the doctors, I had just thought maybe it would go away. Bad mistake, now my abdomen is full of scar tissue from a burst cyst. Well, surgery will make it better, I hope. Glad your husband didn't give up, as a gallbladder can be life threatening. good luck to you

I havent had that proble, thank God. I wish all the best and will say a prayer for you. It is a very common surger now so you should breeze through it. I work in an OR in a large hospital and see all kinds of surgerys. Good luck.

As much as we wish doctors were always right and knew what they were talking about, they don't always get it right. I have had alot of problems. I went to the doctor because I lost my voice alot, and my tonsils stayed swollen for 6 months (finally they took my tonsils out). Then I went to the ER because I was having really severe stomach pain. They took my apendix out and the next day I cam down with chicken pox. Then I went in for mor stomach pain and they found I had a dirty cyst on my ovaries and a kidney stone. Both doctors claimed this was not the cause of my stomach pain. They took the cyst out and the kidney stone finally past (no pain). I went to the doctor for neck pain and asked if the mole that had grown on my neck could be the cause. They told me no, but the second they took the mole off the pain was gone. The mysteries of medicine.
