Have you ever forgotten someone's name?

Has anyone ever mispronounced your name? Or, forgotten your name completely?
Are there certain names that you always have trouble
pronouncing or remembering?
In my real life, few people forget my name or mispronounce it.
My name (offline) is not that hard to remember.
And, I shorten it to three letters, for
everyday use. So all my friends and family use my nickname instead.
Easy to remember. No misunderstandings or mispronunciations!
So I'm rarely annoyed when someone forgets my name! But it's a little funny!
Does it annoy you when someone is constantly forgetting your name,
as if they couldn't be bothered to remember you?

I can't remember anyone mispronouncing my name. However, i had one or 2 people forgetting my name which I didnt mind so much since I also forget their names. LOL! I am not really good with names and I had this annoying habit of mixing up names of people which becomes real embarrasing most of the times.

It doesn't bother me if someone forgets my name, because frankly there's a good chance I've forgotten theirs, as well. I started a new job a couple of weeks ago, there are maybe 18-20 people in the office, and about half of them have names that start with "C"...I am still struggling to keep them straight! lol
People are always calling me by a different name starting with the same letter, as well, or by the name of someone I look like. Everyone always thinks I look like someone else they know.

I don't get annoyed if someone that I don't see everyday forgets my name. But there are cases I really forget some people's name and it's only their face I can remember. It's embarrassing if you forget the name of a person you knew before but lucky for me when I am in such a situation, I would hear someone mention her/his name. so I avoid the embarrassment of asking the person's name again.

Oh Gosh! I do this all the time. I have a really hard time with names. All ways have so it is not just my age that is causing it. My Grandmothers best friend who was like a family member always called me Mike. I never did find out why and when I corrected her she would apologized but then next time I saw her she would call me Mike again.

I am poor in remembering names. I hope there's something I can do about it. It's a good thing that my parents gave me a 3-letter name that's so easy to pronounce, so people could easily remember and I wouldn't get offended that much.
However, forgetting other people's names had many times put me in an awkward spot.

Everyone pronounces my name wrong, and it irritates me to no end. My real name is Tamara, but where my name is russian, and should be pronounced the russian way, I get people who continue to call me Tam-AIR-uh, no matter how many times I tell them that is not my name. My name should be pronounced Tam-ARE-uh. There's a HUGE difference between the two, and the mistake annoys me.
So, to make matters simpler, I use Tami .. the nickname version of. But I would much prefer to be called by my full, properly pronounced name.

I plead guilty.
I am teaching in one of the universities here in our city. During regular semesters, I get to have as many as 300 students. While most of them have been my students in other subjects in previous semesters, some of them are under me for the first time. I get to memorize the names of the students who do well in class. I also get to remember the names of the students who give me headaches. LOL! I do not really find it that easy to memorize all their names.

No it doesn't annoy me one bit because I have the same problem. I don't have a photographic memory like some people do and to get offended wouldn't make any difference one way or the other. To me, if they ask my name again, it tells me they're interested enough to want to know because they asked.

Oh many a times I have forgotten the names of people with whom I didn't have contact for long. And one day when they stood before me, getting my name correctly, I was very embarrassed and felt very shameful. Anyways, that has given me some inputs and from now I have started recognizing names faster. So it's good now.

well i not really had that problem in life.. and i would totally understand if a foreigner got my name wrong or couldn't remember it, as i do know its not easy to remember another country name.. here id be fine with all names, as they to me are common if English name of course lool
some foreign names i do remember but not always know how to pronounce it.. If its a person i speak often to or good friends with, i would not forget the name.. Because it would be embarrassing to have to ask weeks later what the persons name is or you be having to call the person oi you hahaha
As for prounouncing my name, id find it sweet and funny if got it wrong :) but i would be little if called me another female name [joking hehe]

Keeping other people's names in mind is the first step to get to know them. I am always trying my best to memorizing my friend's name as long as i want to develop a friendship wiht him/her,hehe~~~And i think this is one of the reasons why i can make so many friends in my school life, haha~~
By the way, as my name is easy to remember(one name that is used by many film stars),seldom does my name be mis-called?hehe~~~

Luckily I haven't experienced that someone had forgotten my name. MAybe because my name was so popular here in our place. But I do have experiences that I was the one who forgot the names of a certain person. And I even have some talks to them and to thier surprise in the middle of the conversation I tend to ask them thier names though I knew them on thier faces.

I've had experiences like that too.
Especially when I'm visiting a new place
or have only talked with the person once or
twice before!
Thanks for your comments.

hi. My real name is really hard to pronounce, I mean the whole name, First and last that is...Friends who have known me for years, got used to it and never made a mistake after a few times. Some people whom I just met, would really buckle when pronouncing it LOL. It isn't a weird or a very long name or a tongue twister, It's just that the original name where it was derived and my given name differs in 2 letters. When someone is pronouncing my name in a wrong way, I always correct them, both spelling and pronunciation. I hate it when they do that. But, I guess, i have to blame my parent's for that lol..
I sometimes forget other people's name too, moreso if they are acquaintances from the past..but, i honestly tell them that "i'm sorry i have forgotten your name but you look so familiar..", rather than pretend that i do actually know their names...lol

Yes, people often get confused as to how my name should be pronounced and spelled. :p
Me, I forget people's names ALL the time. But it's not just people's names I forget. I forget many things. So it's not as if I don't pay enough attention or I'm not interested in other people, it's just that I'm really forgetful :p

I have a difficult last name to pronounce which is really fun (not at all) listening to telemarketers try to pronounce my last name. For remembering names I am horrible at because I get people mixed up all the time i will call some one Mike when there name is George which is very hard to say was a verbal slip up.
