What are the hot keys in a computer? Are they the function keys ?

Hot keys are a combination of two or more keys on your computer keyboard, which performs a particular funtion. You can sometimes add a few hotkeys in some applications. For example "ctrl + c" is used to "cut" a text matter from a text file. "Ctrl + v" is used to "Paste" it to the desired place

Hi dextornap I thoght that these must be function keys. From your response I understood that the hot keys are nothing but the shortcut keys. Thanks for your reply.

I like to use hotkeys as it saves me lots of time when entering data on the computer. They are also known as shortcut keys. You can even assign keys on your computer. I have done this when I thought it would help when I entered something repeatedly. The keyboard is amazing when you get to use different keys to perform tasks that could have taken some time to enter.
