Why do people claim not to be on myLot just for the money?

Have you come across a number of discussions where people say they are not on myLot just for the money? I wonder why that is? If they were not on myLot for the money, then why point this fact out to those who are?
If they're not on myLot for the money, why point it out in every single discussion related to the issue or where someone is happy to have reached a milestone (posts or other)on myLot becuase they want to and it has probably been some effort on their part? Don't quite get this behaviour..
If they're not on myLot for the money, have they not got referrals for their programmes and do they not try to refer people to the sites they use where they will gain from that?
The whole 'enjoy it, not doing it just for the money' is getting quite old
I came across myLot while discovering ways to make money online like a number of people here and I happen to enjoy it along the way(I am sure my referrer is happy too..)and why do people point out that some should not be here just to make some extra money on myLot because that's what it is, n'est-ce pas?
Seems like double-standards somewhere... maybe I should've labelled this 'RANT' too..

enterpriseLEE, just check my blog under 'listening to music', both sites (non referral links) pay £0.03 minimum per review. You could have made a few ££s in that time so start now

enzabird, I like to inform you that I am not here for money. I have joined here for my own interest which I have not had in any other webs. You mentioned that you can use facebook not to talk with complete strangers. But is it true? No strangers? If you have such circle of friends then you have no need to join any forum. All of you could easily join in any IM and talk to yourselves. No strangers at all. In my case I have participated in a very small numbers of discussion and at present my earnings is $1.62. SO to have $10 is far away. But reading of discussion is very intersting. I like it and enjoy it. ANd I gather information. I am ready to donate my earnings to any other. The time I spent on mylot, the cost of internet connection, electric consumption is greater than my earnings; Per day earnings, per month earnings and per year earnings. I don't think that the people are getting all of these in free of cost.

i am not here for just the earnings, if i was, i wouldn't be here thats for sure.. its not enough.. few cents a day for several hours work is stupid.. I not that desperate for money.
i do find this a challenge though.. trying to get noticed.. i like reading other peoples views on subjects or to get advise about anything i am concerned about or just wonder what other people think.. I find many of the people are nice here.. yes i have facebook but its just guys that contact me and don't even talk but send stupid emotes or just want msn for naughty talk.. Here its nice, many females, maybe having same problems as me and so on..
You will find there is many like me that are NOT here just for the few cents a day..

No one is that desperate for a few cents a day (well, I think..) but it is an incentive for doing on myLot what you could have done on any other discussion board or forum.

The small amount we are getting from mylot is a bonus and this make mylot totally different from other sites. This money factor sticks more members here.I daily spend more than one or two hours in this site. After joining this site i improved my english and communication skills a lot.I got paid five times from this site.

I agree, the incentive (however little) makes people come back to myLot again and again, maybe they do not realise this?
How have you improved your English and communication skills? Do you use a translation software or website too? I have often wondered about this one..

I think people mention it because, other people ask the question. If a person isn't here for the money, what harm is there in that. It doesn't make one reason any better or worse than another. Whatever the reason...we're here.

Yes, it is a good place to discover other ways to earn money, I had however come across all those ways before I came along myLot and it just happens to be one of my top sites that I am trying out and one of those I am reviewing on my blog. happy myLotting!

For me, I joined because of the potential to earn some extra money. When I first started - about 1.5 years ago - I made payout each my first few months, with the same amount of posting that I do now (which is about all I can do because of other commitments). Well, after the first few months, earnings dropped by about a third and I was making payout every 3 months and it's been that way ever since. In my eyes, I'm not really making any money, but I'm still here. I would be here even if there was no payout, I enjoy the social interactions with the other people.
I think the reason some people point this out to those that comment about the payouts is because there is more to myLot than just reaching payout. You can really meet some cool people, get some great ideas about things and learn about other cultures. There are people here that are just posting worthless garbage trying to make payout and not succeeding. If they change thier thinking a bit and actually try to enjoy the site for it's "side" benefits and forget about the money they may find that their earnings will increase.
Just my 2 cents...

Because some people honestly aren't. This isn't the place for me to go to make money .. since it would be a waste of my time to try. The hours I spend here making pennies I can be working on designing websites making hundreds. It's illogical.
I joined because someone asked me to. I hung around because it was another place to interact, to see a variety of opinions, to debate topics of interest.
So, if I'm here literally just for the conversation, and just for the topics, stands to reason there are others doing the same.

"I am only here for the money". If it weren't for the money I would probably be spending my time on a site where money was not part of it at all. Ya know in the few discussions I have part taken of on this paticular subject I have felt guilty saying that I am here for the money which is totally ridiculous because that is what myLot is about. Posting to make money! I have always doubted the people that say they aren't and have always wondered why pick a site that pays if money is not an issue? Possibly we have some self denial here?

I agree with your response. The incentive offered by myLot plays a huge factor in why people keep coming back to the site.
I post in other forums and discussion sites but have spent more time on myLot for obvious reasons

Hi,
I am here for money, for fun and for friends. I would not come here if I am not enjoying the discussions and I would not come to myLot if I don't have friends in myLot. The most important factor that keep me coming is that I can earn money from myLot.
So, when someone is not here for money, then he/she might be here for information and discuss interests with friends. I am sure that most of the mylotters are here in myLot for money.

Of course, the earning keeps one coming back as we can make friends on many sites and interact with people about various interests but myLot gives us the incentive to come back again and again

Well if you enjoy it, then making money is not the "only" reason you are here. If I was trying to make a real income here, I would have quit the very first day. It's next to impossible (unless I were to have a bunch of referrals) to make a decent pay here. As far as being excited about reaching a milestone, some people set goals for themselves, and strive on doing the best that they can on everything that they do. This may just be a place for discussions, but I want to put forth an honest effort when I am here.

Even if I did enjoy it and there was no incentive for being here, then there would be no point in spending that amount of time responding to discussions as much as I'd want to help and share with people..
I set out on a quest to see if one could really earn money online and that's what my blog's about and what I am here to discover, everything else is a plus.
In terms of milestones, I do not suppose you have seen those discussions where someone is happy they have achieved a certain number of posts and someone else comes strutting along saying 'i am not just here for the money...' totally irrelevant coz who said they were? do you get the point now?

I agree somewhat with you on that mylot most people are here for the money . The key is most people . I think you get the best of both worlds here on the lot . When I joined I thought be a nice way to make a little extra money . What I did not know is there are so many nice , helpful people here on the lot . The best thing is their are people from all over the world . I do get what you are saying about seeing a post like that , those do get on my nerves

Good point you have there. I think you are gonna ruffle some feathers here hehe.
I suppose what members mean when they say they're not here just for the money is that many people here have the misconception that you just join myLot and can post anything even if it doesn't make any sense, which will forever remain in the "no responses" category. For example, "talk about gsm repeater welcom to talking!".
I can say that a huge part of me is here because of the money and secondary reason is the novel and valuable information I get. Or I wouldn't waste my time typing away responses.

Looks like I indeed raffled some feathers with this one and even some veteran myLotters (who are normally too big to reply to some of our discussions..) felt like they had to say something as they really love to make a point!
I also wouldn't waste my time here if there was no incentive (I care about people but I could be doing other things) I have a decent job and trying to earn money online was a little experiment for me to do in my spare time and I happen to enjoy it
I also post in other forums and discussion boards but myLot is different due to the incentive offered so I am not going to lie and say I am only here to help others find solutions to their problems, here for the cents too

Hello marina321,
Maybe you should label this your rant, I have seen may discussions about not being on this site for the money, maybe they mean what they say,now don't you get mad with me, when my friend got me on this site I did not know how to work on the computer but she taught me and she got me started here, for a few days I was prodding along getting new friend and having a good laugh, then my friend ask me how much I have so I said how much what she look at gthe side of your page then I saw it wasn't much I ask what is that for and she said you get paid on this site, well never knew so I would really say that I am not here for the money and never will beside the money is not going to get me far is it,I have just gaven you a little rant hehehe,
Tamarafireheart.

It could be because of not having an over the top goal of making this a living. I knew that going in sometime back. You'd have to ask these people directly on that. That's something I think is because that's how some people can be perhaps. I can honestly say sometimes I drift in and out but that's because I do other things but that's another story. That's just something you'd have to ask the people directly for sure.

It is good that you can discuss this topic or rant about it, if it is a rant which I don't believe it is a real rant in the strictest sense of the word. No, I don't think you are ranting, you are just trying to get a lot of words in so that it will qualify as a discussion. Cheers!!

Hi marina321, well, I'm here for the money but it's only secondary. AT first, I thought it's all about money here, but I learned a lot here. I am glad that I found a new friends here around the globe. I can share my thoughts and ideas here, and I am not just helping people but of course I'm earning from it. And now I realized it's like everybody is benefiting here, so it's about friendship and helping each other to earn and to grow. Happy myLot! Thanks for the post!

marina321 this is a free world, a free forum and we can damn
well say what we please as long as we do not break my lot rules and are respectful of each other. so I again say Iam here for the fun I get mylotting and for the money I make, now why is that so upsetting for you or any body else. I get so tired of having to defend myself against people such as yourself. I am 81, I have only a small social security check, and no longer work,so if I make some extra money whose business is it anyway? I also do surveys and get paid for that too. so its still nobodys business but my own.as for the posts about how much someone had earned, those people have not read the rules, those posts get deleted. With
all the real vital issues in the world, why get so steamed over what we say about why we are here. suck it in a nd go on with your life.

hi dear i would not say i am here for money for the sole reason that the money is not all that great if i convert my entire months earnings into Indian Rupees i cannot even buy a pair of shoes...but being here is fun and a very good timepass..if i am feeling little low then i go for the humourous discussions and if i am in the right frame of mind i do the serious and more meaningful discussions..i get to learn so much about different cultures and traditions followed by people in other countries

How could you say you are here for money, heavens, its not exactly a high income earner.
I think if you did a check around you may just find that a large amount of people are here to chat, learn, listen, help and anything else that comes along, but NO not for the money.
@marina321 (4556)

The incentive offered on myLot plays a huge factor into why people are here to chat, learn, listen, help. Things you can do on any other similar site that does not offer any incentive for your activity.
