Hi
I have also read some where that over exposure of intensive microvawe radiation may cause damage to the eyes like cataract, it may kill the sperms and also cause burning. But the effect of mild microwave radiation has not yet find out and the researches are going on in this matter.
Most of us are using microwave oven for different purposes daily. So we have to take some precautions to save ourself from the harmful effects, if there is any, of microwave.
We should follow the instruction manual available with the product for recommended operating procedures and safety precautions.
Always check whether the door close firmly damaged before using the oven.
Never operate an oven while the door of the oven open.
Don'y stand directly against an oven for long periods while it is working.

years ago while in high school a chem teacher told me that microwaves work by REMOVING a hydrogen molecule from the H2O molecule. to me, this stood to reason, think about Chinese food when it is in the microwave...always comes out dry, right? well, from then on i just put some water on my Chinese food (normally I'm talking about rice and the like) and it comes out great!
so, as far as HEALTH wise; i think you'll be safe.
now if you have a microwave from 1986 that is really old, it may emit more radiation than the newer ones.

I hope it is safe becasue I use it nearly every day. I think they must have researched it and deemed it safe years ago. I jsut saw something on sixty minutes where a microwave as a source of radioation and metal and a hotdog did soemthing to cure cancer in lab tests with animals. It would be neat if using a microwave would actually be good for us. I think they used a microwave I'm not totally sure.
