Hello again, Whenever I respond to a post I like to be sure that I spelling is correct. i know I sometimes remispell words. I was wondering, do you think mylotter would get upset if someone else would correct your spelling? I try to use a dictonary to be sure I have the right spelling, but than I get lazy and just hope I spell it right. So what I'm asking is, if anyone ever sees that I have mispell a word, can you please let me know. I promise I won't get upset.

Spelling errors do not bother me at all. Sometimes my fingers move fast or slower than my brain and I have them as well. I don't point out that the person spelled the word wrong I only spell it correctly in my response. I did have someone that was really rude about the spelling of the word favorite once and I do not response to her discussions anymore. Apparently, Americans are the only ones that spell it favorite without a "u" in it . She didn't even respond to what I posted just said that I spelled the word incorrectly . Some people just do not realize that not everyone on mylot is from their country and not everyone has a Phd .

Hi ZephyrSun, I can understand what you're saying, my brain is always ahead of my fingers. I'll be thinking about what I'm going to write about and forget to put in a letter or two. I've seen people spell the some words wrong, but heck I'm not going to tell them. How do you spell favorite? It's true there are many people from many different countires and we all have a different way of spelling, the mean of certain words is another thing. I can use a certain word and it will mean something and to someone else is totally different. thank for your input, and have a great day.

I personally spell favorite just like that, but some overseas spell it and I don't know if this is the correct way but I'll try and maybe one of the people that spell it this way can correct me favourite. Sorry I grew up in the US and we just spell it favorite LOL.

I probably wouldn't correct anyone else's spelling, but I do try to be as correct as I can in my own postings. It is somewhat of a pet peeve of mine to see posts where it appears that the writer hasn't put much effort into spelling or punctuation.

Hi newtondak, I've seen people spell some words wrong, but I won't tell them anything, because they may get upset. As you, I like to be sure that my writing is clear and my spelling is correct. I'm also bad at punctuations, I know I have a lot of run on sentences where I need to put a comma. But I'm learning something knew everyday. Thank you for responding, have a great day.

I think it is admirable that you are using a dictionary to make sure you spell words right, and in that way make your English more perfect. I, myself, do not use a dictionary. Sometimes I look at a word and it just doesn't look right, and then I try to avoid using it. The best part about English is that it is a very simple language, where you can say one thing in very many ways, so you do not necessarily have to find that one word. Sometimes I get annoyed and look up the spelling in an online dictionary, just to know for future reference. I would not get offended if someone corrected my grammatical or spelling errors, since I try to learn to perfect my English. You can't learn without getting the errors pointed out! I promise if I notice any errors I'll let you know :) Happy posting!

hi Emiese, thank you, like I said, my daughter got me in the habit of using a dictionary. One never know when we may use a certain word, this way should I happen to use that certain word, at least i know I spelled it right. I still get confuse when I use the word than, then. I know its an easy word but, somehow I get them confused. thank you for posting. and do let me know. have a great day.

You are putting extra effort. There is no need to sit with a dictionary for correcting spell. Use forefox 3. It has a built in spell checker. So whenever you make a spell mistake you can see it yourself. There is no need to get upset & also correct your mistake when you can do it yourself. Happy mylotting

hi darksorrow, I just wanted to know how people felt. If I don't know how to spell a word I like to look it up, this way, when I use next time I know how to spell it. I can't use forefox 3 here. When I used Word, it will let me know. it seem that the simply words are the hardest to spell. anyway, thank for posting to my dicussion and have a great day.

There are some people who make it their business to correct other people's spelling and grammar and others who are upset and offended by them doing so. Personally, I feel that the content is more important and, as long as I can understand what someone means, perfect spelling is not vital. Everyone spells incorrectly or makes typing errors from time to time and there are myLot members from around the world for whom, English is not their first language. (I do find it irritating when people write 'da' instead of 'the' etc., but - you know, live and let live ... )

Hi, I would not do that, simply because I don't know how the person would react. I was curious how people would react if someone told them that a certain word was spelled wrong. I keep forgetting that MY LOT has people from all around the world. thank you for responding, have a great day.

I was noticing a lot of spelling mistakes in the forums here as well. I too make spelling mistakes, but some of the ones I am noticing are very simple words or just the result of someone who is not willing to back space. lol. So if I see any words that you have spelt wrong, kaleegirl45, I will let you know. hehe.

Hi bam001 I totally agree with you. Here i don't mind so much and if someone is going to tell that fine also. I remember one time I wrote out my resume and I thought it look good, later on I found out that I had way too many mistakes. I don't have to tell how I felt when I saw afterwards. So now everytime I write something I use spell check. thank you for your response.

Hi sunshinelady, I wouldn't mind if someone told me I spell the word wrong. To me is a way improving my spelling. I also forget that there is people from different countries. I'm doing for me and to get other peoples opinion. I also have another problem, I forget to put words in. I tell you my brain in on 4th gear, while my finger are just getting out of 1st gear. thanks for you response.

I am a good speller and I pride myself on that small achievement. The problem is my fingers are not as good a speller as me and I type fast and hit the post button just in time for me to discover one of the antics of my fingers, too late to change or edit or correct anything so I just let it ride and hope nobody corrects my spelling because that would just be too embarrassing.

Hi underdogtoo, It's little thing like this that we appreciate. It's weird, that for me when I'm hand writing, I forget how to spell the most simply words, I have to keep repeating the word hoping it pops into my brain. If not I'll ask my daughter or look it up. thank you for your respond.

I think you do just fine with your spelling and no MyLot isn't going to get upset for you mispelling words. I know alot of you are not good with the english lanuage but you try and that takes effort. That's like me trying to learn another country's language and expected to know how to write it properly. Just do your best and if any one put's a negitive response please just skip over that one and move on to the positive replies to your discussions. No one should be correcting you at all it's not their place to. If they can't understand or have a problem with how you write they shouldn't respond to the discussion no one is perfect. I think your doing just fine and keep up the good work. :)

I also don't mind if someone tells me that I misspell a word, but don't be rude. and thank you for posting. (disregard my last post)

If you want to improve your English this is one way of doing it. Always refer to the dictionary for your spellings. I can understand some of us have difficulty in expressing ourself in English. But at least we can improve our grammer by spelling correctly. Before I post, I will go through my comments and check the spelling from dictionary. By doing so I am able to improve my English.

Hi roniroxas Same here, I want to hurry up and write something, I get everything messed up. Even when I'm talking. I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this. I tell you, my brain is ahead of me the majority of the time. LOL, but at least we all know what we all mean. have a great evening and thanks for your response.

I think it's alright others point out my misspelling. English isn't my own language, it's a foreign language for me. I try not to make mistakes but sometimes it's hard to avoid. Nowadays I use Firefox so that it will check the spelling by itself. That's very convenient. I love China

There are so many mylotters who don't spell correctly. Yes, due spelling mistakes sometimes the meaning may also change, but it is very good that you are taking so many efforts to spell correctly. In this way you will be perfect in English. So don't worry about wrong spellings. I think noone will let you know about spelling mistake, instead of responding the subject of your discussion.

That's one subject that I'm bad at. English will never be prefect. Just like some part of Mexico, the same word mean different things. I've never been there, but I have talked to people to have and when I mention a word, to them it was a bad word or the other way around. I think Spanish is he easy language, the way you pronounce it is the way you write. English is a bit more diffcult. thank you for your response.

I wouldn't mind being corrected. People make mistakes and nobody is perfect. I would correct if necessary but if its just a typographical errors its okay. Take care and no worries. Okay!

If you want to make sure your spelling is correct try using firefox as your browser because it automatically checks spelling. However don't rely on it too much because some English words appear if you misspell another word.By the way your spelling of dictionary is wrong.

thank for letting me know. Even on here it will let me know if I spell the word wrong? I just wish that mylot had that feature where you can use spell check. Maybe when I get 1 million points it will show up. thank again and have a great day.
