What's the exactly 'daily catch' mean in restaurant?

Now I'm learning English, in a lesson about order food in restaurant, I fould the 'daily catch' like a kind of seafood, but what's the exactly mean? Could you tell me? Thanks a lot.

Usually the catch of the day is just the daily fish dish for that restaurant. If you are by the shore, then the restaurant may be selling whatever was caught by the fishermen that day. Either way, the restaurant is trying to tell you the fish is fresh
