How Long do you wait to mark best response????

Hi Guy's,
As I have only been doing this for a few weeks now and I haven't made many discussion topic's myself so I wasn't too sure what the best way to go about doing this, do you wait until you get so many response or do you wait so many day's? so I guess I was just wondering what other people do and how long do they wait until they mark the best response in the discussions that they have started?

I definitely wait a few days to give my friends and others time to respond if they want to. If the response isn't even remotely on topic, I can't even consider it for best response. And no mean responses make it either.
I want a well thought out reply that shows the person thought about what they were writing and not just trying to make points.
Also, if someone takes the time to come back and respond to what others have said, that is a mark in their favor too.
If it has been a long time and I have no responses, and then I do get one, if it is even a little good, it will get best response just to clear it from unresolved.

yeah I think that I will wait a few days after posting a discussion before I mark the best response so it gives my friends and others enough time to reply with their comments so thanks you info really helped me out :) and yes I always try to answer all my response too as I think this is the polite thing to do, people take the time to reply to you so you should do the same for them.

I usually wait until it has been a few days since it has had any activity. Then I reread the responses and choose the best response. Sometimes it can be tough. Sometimes there is one that is exceptionally written, but other times there aren't so I may choose one that makes me look at the discussion from a different view.
