Do you still remember the 5 1/4 floppy disk? We had the floppy disk way back in high school, this is funny coz it's huge.. After our school year, we opened the floppy disk & then we put our signatures in it.. did u get a chance to use this disk?

I still have a box or 2 of those somewhere. When I first use the computer we don't have yet a hard disk, all are through that disk, Boot disk is in drive A and Data disk is in Drive B. This is why we still have the none existent B drive today.

Yeah. I remember, during my college days our lecturer used to give two floppies labeled SYSTEM and STUDENT. During the first few days we inserted STUDENT disk and started PC which wont start. Ha ha ha! Thanks for reminding me those GOLDEN old days!!!

Hi, Do you know my professional life was relied on those 5 1/4 floppy for more than 6 months during 1993. I used two floppies, one for starting LOTUS 123 and other one for storing the sales details of our company. In my opinion they are more reliable than their 3.5 mini floppies. But you must be careful, NO BENDING, NO PLACING OF RADIO/TAPE RECORDER or any other magnetic material. I lost data by placing on my Radio. They are very convenient to carry, just put inside your notebook. I used extensively those 5 1/4 inch floppies, during 1989 to 1993.

5 1/4 - Diskette
Yes I remember those big floppy disk, that is the media we used in college. We store our programs and data onto that as well as the different arcade games we collected. This discussion made me think how easy or simple it was before. Word processing software programs and computer games can fit into one floppy disk. But now you have to install the programs and games on a hard disk because it wont fit on a single floppy disk or CD. I also have the inside of a floppy disk signed, I used a correction pen which is white in color, it looked nice when you pin it to your cork board.

hi jinxky, I remember the 5 1/4 floppy disk, we used it while CPUs were the bed type before the tower type. And with the Turbo button down at the middle. We used to it hold the games that we had for the computer way back then. I remember Family Feud and Alfie games on our computer that came with the floppy disk.

Hahahah :D I remember those...used to be a big headache for me, easily damaged. I still can hear in my head the disgruntle sound of B drive when reading one of those. Perhaps you have not heard of it before, there is a bigger size, 8-inch floppy disk. I bet you have not seen one, I used it to fan myself when I get too hot hahahah :D. I used to work with those on the very old ancient dinosaur HP computers using Forth language.
