Does anyone have any information on how Helium and Triond pay?

I am currently writing articles for Helium and Triond. Although my articles rate in the top quarter, Helium's rate of pay trickles in and amounts to pennies. Triond pays on average four times as much per article, but it hardly seems worth the time and effort put into researching and creating a substantial, publishable piece of material. Has anyone ever reached a decent pay level on either of these sites? If you have, how long did it take to get there?

I've had a payout from Helium, the usual $25, but I agree that I'm getting pretty fed up with their site. There's no transparency in terms of what amount of hits equal what amount of payment, and the peer related rating system is a joke. Never tried Triond, mind. I prefer AC, to be honest. Flat rate, you know how many hits you're getting, and decent upfront payments for articles not a great deal above Helium quality. Earned about 50 bucks on there, in half the time, with a quarter of the articles on Helium. If you're US resident, I'd say move there over either.

Thank you for your response. Helium's peer rating system is a joke. I know writers on that site who do not even bother to read the articles, they just quickly scan and arbitrarily rate them. I don't like having payment for my work dependent upon the integrity of the person viewing my articles. I also do not like the fact that rating is mandatory. I meet my quota honestly, but I have better things to do with my time than being forced to read and evaluate things I have no interest in reading. AC sounds like like a better alternative. I think I will give them a try. Thank you for the info.

My earnings are better at Helium. I've sold an article there and I keep winning money in Helium writing contests. My residual earnings are better too, now that I have some rating stars. I earn a very small amount from Triond every month but I have not submitted for a while and I don't promote my articles much or take part in their voting system. I think both sites pay better if you actively promote your articles and I'm only just starting to do this. I am writing more for Helium Marketplace and contests now as I earn money from those articles even if they don't sell or win. It's also a good way to learn to write to order, as I have to follow the publishers' requirements, and this is something I want to be able to do successfully, if I am to earn better money for writing in future.

Thank you for your response. I haven't come across too many people with positive things to say about Helium. It's encouraging to know that the site can work for someone. I've written for Helium's Marketplace, but I haven't considered giving Helium's contests a try. It's sounds like they are a viable option. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. The writing I have done for Helium has consistently rated in the top 25%. I have one writing star, and one rating star, but my earnings to date are a pathetic .08. My time is limited because I run a small business and am an eBay seller. I can only turn out a few articles a week, but I don't like wasting what little time I have on nonproductive projects. Triond has consistently paid a much higher rate for fewer articles than I have submitted to Helium. I also like the fact that the only thing I am required to do on their site is write. In addition, my Triond earnings increase significantly each day while my Helium earnings remain static. Thank you again for your response. It is much appreciated.

If time is short you may do better sticking with Triond, and it has a nice low minimum payout.

I use Triond and I am very pleased with them. At first I was only seeing a dollar or so per month, but since I began Tweeting my articles on Twitter, I have seen a huge rise in the number of views and hence the money. I have about 50 items posted that earn me $6 per month. The key to Triond is to keep posting different sorts of content so that you can see what is popular. I have had a lot of luck writing how-to and advice type articles. Anything that you can put into a list tends to be popular also. My most popular article is called "10 Ways to Come Up With Story Ideas" (http://www.writinghood.com/literature/topical/10-ways-to-come-up-with-story-ideas/) which has to date had 2,772 views and earned me $3.12. I wish you lots of luck! Message me on Triond and I will visit your articles :) Christian M. Archer
