Booking vacations online

I'm doing some research on peoples' online buying habits when it comes to booking vacations. My fiancee and I travel every year down south and we always book online and we're always looking for better deals. So we started with online portals like expedia but most recently we've discovered eBay... which we've used to book our honeymoon. When booking travel online, what do you look for or what kind of information do you need to make a purchase? Part of why I ask is because I am shamelessly advertising our new website that provides links to travel auctions (www.sunnyvacationpackages.com). We're looking to improve it and drive traffic towards eBay sales. fyi - we're not really web literate, so the design is a work in progress.
