my computer moves kind of fast but i think that it could move faster honestly, because i think that it has before. i have erased the cookies, deleted the internet files, de fraged it, and thats about all i have done to it because honestly thats all that i know how to do it, i have ran a virus scan and nothing is coming up and i have ran a anti-spyware program so nothing is there either. so i was just wondering if there is a program or anything that i can download off of the internet that might help me in what i want my computer to do, or if you have any other ideas of what i can do that i haven't thought of...i hope that someone can help me with this problem that i am having...thanks for taking the time to read my discussion and have a great day!

How much space do you have left on your computer? If you can, I suggest you clean and compress the files on your drive; it will give you more space, and will also help run your computer a bit more quickly. How old is your computer? If it's a desktop, maybe you should upgrade the RAM, if you can. Look up your model number and information, and see if you can find compatible RAM to add to it. It's a relatively cheap, easy way to make your computer run a bit faster. Hope this helps.

Like previously asked how much space is open on your HDD? this will effect the swap file. How much Ram is on your system this alone can speed up your system. windows also has temp files and take up space so you might want to clean those up also.

Might I recommend going to this freeware site called Snapfiles? It's at http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/ . There, go to Disk CleanUp at http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/system/fwdiskclean.html , and then find a neat little program called "Disk Cleaner". This will let you choose which areas to clean up, such as temporary internet files, cookies, web addresses, passwords, etc. Might I also suggest something from Auslogistics? They have two free items for your Windows XP or Vista computer called Auslogics Disk Defrag and Auslogics Registry Defrag at both http://www.snapfiles.com/download/dladiskdefrag.html and http://www.snapfiles.com/download/dlalregdefrag.html . They'll clean up your computer's hard drive and your registry for free.

Go here hhtp://abeltronica.com and check your speed. Adding memory usually helps speed things up and running Adaware, spybot, crap cleaners will help clean out things that bog you down. Often a simple restart will help with many things. Do updates on a regular basis too!

I can give you some lists that will help you to speed up your computer. What to do list: Clean history internet files Do cleaning registry with software Use CCleaner (that is one will help computer run smoothly) Manually delete temporary files and temporary internet files (software do not cleaning them up well enough) Empty Recycle Uninstall software that you do not use. Every time you uninstall software, use CCleaner and Registry Cleaner Software then defragment. Defragment almost every few days. Do not leave computer on too long. If you tried all of them, upgrade memory ram. 2GB is best.

I didn't see a registry fix from your list, maybe this will do it. It works for me, program start up improves and they are more stable. Try CCleaner it works wonders, its fast simple to use and its 100% free. Also try to minimize programs that auto start, remove those that you seldom use.

Well first of all I dont know your spec , you have done all the right things, just as an example, I format my hard drive and install a fresh copy of windows vista every 6 months, this keeps my computer in top form as it erases all the unidentified rubbish. You could either upgrade to a good machine, I am currently upgraded its costing me £600 and that for a monster pc lol. You can also overclock you system components if you have the right motherboard etc, may help speed things up a bit. There is a software version which can overclock processor and ram, its called "Clockgen" its quite good, i got and extra 500mhz using this and i didnt increase the power to my components. Thanks

Windows XP has a prefetch folder that runs when you open windows,it fills up quickly with programs that you use often.Simply emptying it after windows has stopped loading the desktop really speeds up the computer.I empty mine every day,to empty the prefetch folder,go to start, run and type in prefetch. You will see the items that have loaded on statup.Highlight all the items in there then hit delete on your keyboard. You can also go to start, run and type in msconfig, hit ok then go to statup tab and uncheck some of the items in there. This works in xp,I don't know if it works in Vista,I have xp. vhd2008

You can get a program called advanced system optimizer. it will allow you to edit items that are starting at bootup, it will allow you to get files you didnt know were there, it will allow you to scan the registry for errors which will definatly slow you down and it will allow you to defrag your registry amoung many many other things you can do with it. Probably my favorite programs. here is the address.. www.systweak.com hope that helps..
