"Nothing happens, and nothing happens, and then everything happens."

This is a quote by Fay Weldon that seems to fit my life. A time period passes in my life when things run smoothly and I'm enjoying living.
Then, with no reason I can figure out, life turns around and I have a down cycle for awhile.
And then, it goes back up, and then it goes back down-
Have you noticed that your life goes around in cycles? What kind of up times have you experienced that faded to down times?
Or, are you one of those lucky people who always seem to be on top?

I've noticed that things have a way of working that way too. For awhile everything was running smoothly for me and then I had a cycle of bad luck for a few months. It seemed like everything was going wrong. I really wish I was one of those lucky people though :) It's like a rollar coaster ride.

I would like to think that there is a way we could control the bad things that happen. Well, I should say that its easier to believe that we can. I mean sometimes people have things they consider to be bad luck, and things they think bring good events. I dont really think thoses things affect anything. I have to admit though, that I wont wear any clothes that I was wearing when something very bad took place, which is really kind of weird. What do you think, do you think we can control things?

No, Kelly, I don't think we can control things, but I have some other thoughts. I think we can shape our world according to the way we think. But it drives me crazy if I get too hung up on that. Because if things are messed up, well then, I messed up. And it's back to the beginning again.
Trouble starts when we label things. When something happens, we have a choice. We can control how we react to events in our lives. Instead of deciding that whatever happened is good or bad, I try not to get my emotions control me.
If I wasn't so tired, I might be able to word this better. But the truth is, I'm going to sleep but I logged onto mylot instead and found your thoughts waiting for me.

My life goes in cycles, too. For awhile nothing will happen then trouble come in droves. Then I'll sail along on an even keel and lots of good stuff will happen! It certainly keeps me from being bored!

Anawar, The only thing you will find with your head down is DIRT. Keep your head up and you MAY FIND a good reason for it. As I was told when I was a lot younger, "Fake it 'till you make it." Which, to me means, work at it even if you don't think there is anything to it. It will become just second nature, and by then you will have made it. As I have said for years, "When you find someone without a smile, give 'em one of yours, you will usually get one back."

I suddenly entered an "up" cycle a couple of weeks ago. After months of not working, I finally got a 2-week assignment from my temp service. Yesterday I got a call for a 3 month job! My sons are doing well and things are looking up for them and my ex husband is doing well, too. I hope this cycle lasts awhile!

There's no doubt roller coaster rides in life are exciting! Will you share an experience with me?
I thought I was on top of the world, in crazy love with this guy. High and happy for one whole year. Then, I found out he was a criminal, violating parole, and well, down I went. I've been keeping my head down for awhile -
waiting for the up cycle to find me.

It's just life. Life happens. It's not all roses and peaches and cream! If you make the best of even the worse situations- things go easier. I'm pretty lucky in that area. I don't blow things up- I deal with them. I am the type that tries to deal with them early- so they don't esculate into something bigger. Sometimes it works- sometimes not. I think we all deal with the good and the bad.

yeah.. Life is just this strange and what goes around comes around.. There are times whereby we are lucky and unlucky, it all depends on how we see it..
MAybe if we just take it as a learning experience, and we won't feel our life as down as it seems to be and vice versa, when we are lucky, we dun take things for granted and so we will feel that we are never lucky b4^_^ hehe
It's all up to each individual's mentality towards things, and it's actually a blessing in disguise, most of the time^_^

Because no one can have a prefect life, it's either we have this or dun have that ^_^ Even one manage to have everything, they can only choose to make one of it last ^_^
Great post by u ^_^

You're exactly right. You got it. It's not about what happens, its about how we feel when something happens.
There are some people like me however, who have extended periods of down time and there's not enough energy to look up. We wait until our world swings back into balance again.

things run smoothly again. Right now I am in a moderate
down time fightins shingles and hopeing with this new
mdication for shingles I will be rid of it this month,
then I will be on an up cycle again. lol.

Hatley - ouch. My dad got shingles. I didn't live near him at the time, so I never saw the effects. I remember him expressing his pain though it's not the same as the experience.
One good thing, this down will hopefully turn around with medical intervention. You are in my thoughts. Enjoy your ride on the upswing!

I like this quote. I don't think I've heard it before, but it sounds oddly familiar. And it's definitely true to a 'T'. I can easily say that my life is like those. However, I feel that everything happens to me more often than nothing. I seem to attract a lot of negative stuff.

xdrowning - hi. There's plenty of that negative stuff in the air, that's for sure. A person can get tired trying to dodge it all the time! Sometimes, it's just too much and for awhile, life seems so overwhelming.
Hang in there. You'll be attracting positive stuff soon. It's okay.

Hahahaha, I love that quote! Life is definitely cyclic! That phenomenon used to be very dramatic in my life but since I have been working with the law of attraction it has leveled out, and now rather than highs and lows it's more of a steady improvement of my experience. Things get better, and then they get a little bit better, then they get better still...

The one thing I always say to myself is everything happens for a reason and when I start to feel down I take 10 breaths then say to myself to ignore it and throw it away after a while I feel better..guess its another way of positive thinking..negativity always bring you down no matter what it may be and I hate that..though saying all of that dowsn't mean I don't have my bad days like everyone does same here but that is how I try to overcome it bb littleowl
