I am also at present live in the Apartments system only..
I just here post some of the Advantages and the DisAdvantages:
Advantages :
-- Its really a secured one, If you need to go out for a week time, you can safely lock the door, and you and go out without any fear or something, because the people are around there in the flat systems and in most of the flats are the security has been appointed.
-- You can get more friends in the Apartments
-- you can find the common place which is used for the childrans to play the games.
-- The common place of the Garden available in most of the places, where the people can sit and chit chatting during the evening times.
Disadvantages :
-- Privacy will be blocked in the Flat systems, if you come out from your flat, you have to face your neibour flat member..
-- You cannot create any independent Garden for yourself.
-- You cannot alter any of the space outside your flats, (in some cases, you are even alter inside your flats)
-- Any misunderstanding between the members will totally affect the entire flat systems.
There are all only a samples, you can post your opions about the Flat systems, advnages and the disadvantage more..

Hi there,
I have not lived in an appartment in my life. All the time , I was at an independent house only. Even when my huband was transferred to other metros in India, we got a house to live in. I never had to stay in a flat system. So I cannot tell you the advantages / disadvantages there.
In the independent house where we are staying now we feel comfortable, have a big garden etc. We have friends and whenever we need privacy too. Our children are not with us but I have a Dalmatian who is quite ferocious if need be. Otherwise she is a very friendly one with all our guests and friends. It is as if she knows who our enemies / friends are.
I wouldn't like to live in a flat system since I feel that I cannot adjust there. I have got used to roaming in our garden in the evening, watering the plants and cleaning up etc.

There more advantages to flat system than disadvantages.
I lived in what we called face me and I face you house for six years as a bachelor and it was not easy. If you live in such condition where your rooms is facing another in the same house, you know what envy, jealous, backbiting, hatred is all about. when you eat they will know, when you laugh or smile they will say you are laughing.
so flat system is better in all ramification.

Safety options maybe one of the positive aspect of staying in a flat. But I feel that staying in a flat robs you the charm of staying in an open independent house. I find people living in flats are not so social or say friendly as they are in the open independent houses. They appear to me self-centred. But unfortunately, space is shrinking in Metro cities and other cities too, therefore, we have no choice but to stay in a flat.

Hi
I am also living in an apartment and I think all those advantages you mentioned are there. The factor of security is the most advantageous thing in my opinion. My old parents are staying with me. I can go out for a few days with out tension of leaving them alone since the security system is strong and there should be always some people to help them in emergency.
The most disadvantage I felt in flat system is the lack of provision for our own private garden. I like plants and flowers and like to grow them in my own garden. Before I had a good garden in my own house. But now a days there are apartments with the facility for private gardens and terrace in each apartment. I think this is a good feature and this will make the life in apartments more lively.
