How can I control my restlessness in mind?

Almost every time when I am doing some reading or work, I usually can't keep all my mind in it. I always did half the work, then went away and play something else. Not until the relax activities had finished did I realize the time for me to accomplish my work is not enough. I know the inner peace in my body is necessary, but how to get this? My attention can be easily drawn by the surroundings. Please tell me a effective way to change the current situation. Thank you!!!!

..do your best to have focus on what you are doing.. think of something that could motivate you to do the work.. You need to have a goal..You need to think that you have to finish your work.. It will be very hard in the beginning but i know you can overcome that.. Sometimes, i experience that too.. Our body is energetic and we are easily distracted that's why what we need is focus and concentration..

There are several suggestions that I would like to offer here. Mostly because no one answer works for everyone but also because I have sufferred with the same problem myself in the pursuit of my AA degree, which I have 2 more classes remaining to complete. Try these if they make sense to you and feel free to mold them to your own usage. 1. Try studying in a different place, somewhere other than your home, such as a park. This way you are not distracted by the things in your home, nor guests visiting you. You're also more able to focus when you specifically set aside the time to study and assign a specific place for doing it. 2.Take more study breaks from your materials. It all starts to numb the brain when you try to force the information into your memory. Also cramming is a way of cramming facts, figures, information, or formulas into your temporary memory for short term retrieval. Nothing is really learned nor retained by the cramming study method. Every 20 to 30 minutes, get up, stretch, have a smoke break or go to the restroom. Give your eyes and mind a break for 5 to 10 minutes then dive back in. 3. Study in groups. Forming and participating in a study group has been shown to help most people in commiting to studying and discussing the materials that pertain to the class. Discussion of the information and materials between students, helps to cement the facts, figures, and formulas into the memory for not only short term but also long term memory. 4. Find out what type of learner you are and craft your study methods accordingly. ETC Etc etc

I think you feel not interested at the work you are doing, you feel boring about that,so you are easily to be attracted by other things surround you.maybe you can choose something you are interested in,and concentrate your attention on it.Do that for serveral times, when you have the experience of working on something for a long time without being disturbed by other things, you will have self-confidence about that, then you can keep yourself do the same at other work. I think it maybe helpful, but not very sure.all the best!
