dealing with cats during an emergency

I've lately wondered how I would get my four cats out in an emergency situation. I know that I'd have to have four carriers, one for each cat. But the logistics of finding and hurrying each cat into a respective carrier would make it impossible to do much of anything else. The only other extreme measure that I'd resort to is opening up my car door and throwing all of the cats in the car, THEN getting the carriers in the car and placing each cat in its carrier. How does that sound? Also, are there any ways to overcome this problem? Keeping my fingers crossed isn't cutting it, lol.

It would depend on what kind of emergency it was. Cats will react differently to different situations. Some will cause immediate fear and self-preservation reactions and some will just cause a little confusion as you would be the only one who knows what will be happening. That being said, the car trick sounds like your best option as you can take two at a time unless you have to fish them out from under a bed first. Lets hope you never have to experience the emergency evacuation procedure.
