i have opened my cpu for cleaning the dust inside the cpu. one time for fun, i unplugged the ram in it. also i inserted again. but the system didn't started and there is nothing in the screen, i very much afraid and called all my friends and asked about this thing, they suggested some things, but its not worked. atlast in the next day i went to one computer center to clear the problem. actually the ram is not inserted properly. then only the boy in the computer center thought me how to insert the ram properly into the ram. after this incident, i wont keep my hand in hardware parts. only for cleaning purpose i will open the cpu.

Yep, I opened my old computer to install an ethernet card. My old comp is a Gateway Celeron. Bad bad comp. Gateway liked to make CPUs that are not only difficult to open, but are not the standard size to install hardware in order to force you to buy their products. My girlfriend and I spent quite a bit of time opening the CPU only to find the ethernet card wouldn't fit. We said "f*ck it" and bent part of the card to make it fit. Works just fine. :)

I have a couple of times. I've added more RAM and a new hard drive, fan and i think thats it? I also open it up to clean it out every once in a while because it gets dust in it and that is not good for the computer. I have opened it up just for fun when i was learning about things that had to do with computers and taking them apart/fixing them from my friend and that was usually pretty fun but scary sometimes lol

yes, i open my former cpu several times; to upgrade the memory, change the dvd writer, and sometimes just for fun, watching ever electronic component there ...and then it's broken and i have to change the mother board, processor, memory and other things. well, in other word i get new cpu, with old harddisk and dvd rw.

when i was still in university, my buddies always told me that did you want to be an expert on computer??then open it and took all the components out and then return them back where they should be, time by time, you would be an expert. haha, maybe a little exaggerated but actully a lot of them made it. but for me, i had never tried, every time my computer doesn't work, i just called my friends for help.
