I can't wait for this year to be over!!

I have had ups and downs in my life, but this year takes the cake. I have had my vandilized, my wallet stolen and now my home is damaged.
We had storms and tornadoes come through; a large tree branch is now sitting on top of the roof of my home. I was heartbroken when I saw it, but it seems to be only the beginning.
I called my insurance, who are sending someone out to assess the damages. This is how it will play out: They will assess the damages, write out a check for the estimated costs to repair the damages; it is up to me to hire for the repair work.
Maybe this is petty of me, but I don't know how to go about this. I am struggling right now to get someone out there to remove the branch off the roof. It seems,it is not worth the trouble to just remove it. I have called every tree removal company, they have offered to come out and do an estimate, and will chop up and remove the branch, the insurance company will not pay for that. I have told them that I just want the branch removed from the roof. None of them have called back with their estimates.
It seems to me that things have changed. It is not about taking work because it is available, its' about how much they get and if it is worth their time. In the mean time, my home sits with a branch on it.

I know exactly what you mean. This year has been aweful for me too. I had a blow out on my car, was in the hospital for an allergetic reaction, my dad just got out of the hospital, and now my parents are getting a divorce. It seems this year has been pretty crappy for everyone. I try to look at it this way, we're more than half way done! I'm sure everything will get better! It always seems darkest right before the dawn. Insurance companies do that alot, my roof blew off last winter in a storm and they did the same thing to me. I had to hire a private contractor and pick up the bill. I hope things get better! If you ever need a friend I'm here.

Thank you, and know that each response brought tears to my eyes. Here I am complaining about my plight and there are so many of you who have greater ones then me. Mine seem so insignificant compared to all of yours. Your abilities to take what seems to be devasting blows and over come them with such strenghts is very over whelmimg for me. As far as my problems, they are small ones and will work themsleves out. Know that my prayers and thoughts are with all of you, and thank you for sharing your strength and positive words.

I'm very sorry for you! I'm from Romania, and I thought that just here it could happen things like that! You're right, it looks that the Apocalipse is here: people hates other people, the rasism is everywhere, when we need some help, we can't have it, but we must pay for everything!!!!

I have been there. I have had ups and downs in the past. This past year I was diagnosed with cancer; i had no insurance, lost an uncle to a stroke (I watched him die), lost another to prostate cancer (again watched him die as well). And so much more.
The thing we need to remember is things like this will always happen in our lives. We will never have a perfect year, though sometimes it feels like it. Sometimes the good outshines the bad and vise versa. I understand your frustration with not being able to find someone who can remove the branch. Keep looking keep calling.
