My doctor told me I need to lose a lot of my weight, almost half of what I weigh is to much. He gave me pills to help me start loosing weight but I have to adapt my life style too. I'm planning on going to the weight watchers but didn't have the nerve yet. I promised myself I would go next week if I find a babysitter.
Anyone else who needs to loose a lot of weight? Or that has lost a lot of weight? How are you going to it? Did you try Weight Watchers and did you like it, or not?

Weight has been a problem for me for about 15 years now. My husband says he can tell when I'm getting sick, because I put on a lot of weight in a short time. Whe I'm well again, the pursuit of my once-svelte figure is harder than ever. I don't think there's anything I haven't tried. For me, Weight Watchers worked about the same way other programs have: I lose weight very well, then I get sick and gain. When I'm well enough to return to the program, it doesn't help at all. Most of the time, I gradually gain when I return to any diet. I hate this!

That's terrible. We rely on these people to help us get better, but they make us sicker than we already are. It's not the first you hear stories like that. Was it his faulth, or was it something he couldn't forsee?
Maybe your body just get's used to the diet, so it doesn't help anymore. That might be an answer.
Have a nice day

From what he said when I asked what was going on, I was just too thin, and I needed to gain weight to handle the strength of the treatment better. I asked if that means little kids are killed by radiation if they need it? He said he should know better than talk with patients, because they just can't understand. I immediately requested another radiologist!

If you're nervous about weight watchers, I have another suggestion for you. Try going to a website called www.sparkpeople.com. It's a website where you get almost everything you'd get from WW... but it's free, no strings attached. I've been using the website for two, three months now and have lost ~10 pounds so far. The site gives you nutritional information for thousands of foods, a huge message board (and "teams" you can join for a more specific community to talk with), a chance to post a blog up about your progress, videos giving demos of workouts/strength training, and is also affiliated with SparkRecipes, which is a user-centered website where members of SP post recipes with nutritional information. Also, the website will ask for your BMI/measurements, and if asked to, will generate a meal plan for you AND a workout regimen for you if you can't think of one yourself.
As you can tell, I love the website, haha. Anyway, if you're just looking for online support, Spark is a great way to go... it's even a good complement for WW, at least I've heard so from people who use both at the same time.
Good luck!

I need to lose about 60 pounds which Ive been struggeling with for about 7 years now. I blame it on the kids but really it was there before them. I cant bring mu self to pay the money that weight watchers wants, since we struggle to stay on the budget we have. Im trying to watch what I eat and exercise from 30 to 60 minutes a day depending on what I am doing.

I myself have to loose weight. But I do not know if pills can really help. The main thing is keep strict control over your food, I really mean strict control. It would be better if can skip one major meal. Though it would be very hard at the initial stage but later on one gets use to. Another method is swimming and climbing stairs.
But what ever you do you keep a close watch on the food you take.

It's not the pills that will get me to lose the weight. It's just a help to keep the feeling of hunger under control while my body is adapting at the new regime. Skipping a meal is NEVER healthy, you shouldn't do that, it's not good for your body.

I lost 25lbs being on weight watchers. Any group is good to join not just weight watchers could be some place online as well you just need to find you a support group. But yes I enjoyed being there nice people and the weigh in and sitting there talking with the others and getting new recipes and helpful hits was cool.

Hi bieke,
I know you can do it!I have tried before when I joined my friends in the gym..It was everyday for 2 years and the feeling is very great..
Now that I am married , I am just doing it alone in the house with the aid of some video!
My problem is I am not serious about it!I will just do it when I want too which is not a good thing..I just minimize intake a lot..Brekfast, I just take tea and eat lunch like rice and fish or pork with vegetables and have a very light dinner! No soda, no ice cream for me! Just my own policy for myself plus good thing I really don't like sweets!

Good for you that you lost your weight. I hope I will get there too. I already lost about 10 kg so that's a good start, but I need to adapt my lifestyle. I think weight watchers will be the answer for me. And doing sports, I just don't know when I will find the time to do sports.
Have a nice day

I am a member of weight watchers and would definitely recommend that you go to the meeting even if you have to take your child with you.
They have two different programs that you can choose from and they are both very easy to follow. I needed to loose 15 pounds to be where I want to be and I lost it quite quickly. Now I am in the weight watcher mode and think about what I am eating and why I am eathing.
It surprises me that your doctor gave you pills to help you loose weight. It is a lifestyle change and you will learn all you need to succeed with weight watchers.

He gave me pills because I need to loose so much weight. The pills are for jumpstarting the weight loss and now I need to adapt my life style. He told me if I didn't get to adapt it myself he would send me to a dietist, but I don't like that idea, so I bet it's weight watchers for me.

Weight watchers is good. See if you can find a friend or relative to go with you. It helps if someone helps you to be accountable. I need to lose a lot of weight but I want to do it gradually. I am trying to keep a food diary because it is an easy way to help lose weight. You will have to do it for weight watchers also.

I haven't tried weight watchers. And, I need to lose weight as well. I've actually tried several weight loss method but all seemed not working. I am not saying that those methods are not effective it's just that i am not a good finisher, a good starter it is but never a finisher. But right now, I am doing another method of my own. Before, i used to eat rice a lot but now, i do not eat rice since last week. I eat oatmeal as a substitute. I am losing some weight already. I just hope I'll be more consistent this time.
When we're at goal in any aspect of life, we need to be determined to get better results.

I hope it works out great for you. Me too, I am a good starter, but never a finisher. I'm a gourmand, like they say. I love to eat good food. Very rich food, rich in fat and sugars. Not real fast food, I just love food that's not really healthy

Same here, i need to lose 20kgs it seems, the doctor has advised me. But he has not prescribed any medicines as such. He has told me to reduce in 6 months time. I have decided not to go to any kind of treatment such as liposuction or crash diets. Any way i have got full 6 months time, will hopefully reduce by at least 10kgs by then.

I just finished the master cleanse detox. It helps to clear out the junk in your intestinal track that has been there for years. I just lost 10 pounds on it, and 10 with exercise. It is NOT a recommended way to lose weight, but it does reset your system and if you go 10-40 days without eating as the cleanse allows your stomach shrinks and your body resets to eating the good things. I have written a lot about it at my blog (I did a daily Journal):

Or you can look me up on hubpages.com - search blogging2 :) Good luck!

My girlfriend has gained 5 kg of weight since we met the first time. I still in a college and we can't be together often. When we are together i spoil her so much that she can do everything at will as well as enjoying what her love to eat.
Although she is not in slim shape again, i never complain about it because i love her. I don't think she have to lost weight and i think it means she is healthy.

I don't need to lose quite that much (I've lost about 30 of the 50 lbs that was my goal), but I have a girlfriend that was in the same situation as you are. She joined sparkpeople.com and got a lot of support and ideas from there, and she also started attending WeightWatchers. It's been slow going, but she has lost quite a bit of weight and is still losing. She'd tried dieting for a long time, but the weight loss community programs offer a lot of support, which she really needed.
Good luck! I hope you manage to change your lifestyle and live healthier. Losing weight can be frustrating, but you can do it!

I sure hope I can. With diabetis in the family I'm big risk for the moment. I don't want to get there to fast, so I need to lose that weight. I need to loose 50 kg, I don't know how much lbs that is, but I do think it's more than what you lost already. Thanks for you support.
