I have just started growing some of my own vegetables and have worked hard on creating a vegetable patch only to find lots of holes in the leaves of some of my plants whilst the weeds seem to be thriving and remain holeless. I have succumbed to putting down slug pellets and now I have a slug graveyard in my garden. I want to dispose of them humainly though. My bother advised me to put salt down but I am not sure what this would do to the earth and he also added that the slugs sort of explode and quite frankly that is not something I wish to witness! I did look into buying a slug pub (great name eh?) which is basically a small pot with a roof that you pour beer into (apparantly slugs like beer) they get drunk and drown! That doesn't sound humaine but at least they would die happy!
Does anyone out there have any suggestions?

I don't know about slugs but I had a problem with moles awhile back and my neighbor suggested I put Juicy Fruit gum down in their tunnels. I was desparate enough to try it but at the same time, I went along and hoed down the tunnels, so I don't know which worked. I have not seen activity recently.
