I'm so excited because the prices for the Durian, a fruit which is only found here in Davao, is slowly getting lower since it's season is almost here once again.. even foreigners are already starting to buy Durian from this moment. For the first timers, Durian may smell awful for you but once you taste it, i'm sure you'll get addicted to it and the awful smell would turn into fragrance. But eating it will have to be controlled since Durian is fully packed with lots of vitamins and can cause or trigger high blood pressure..

I've heard of this fruit, but I've never seen it sold around where I live. I would love to try it because what I'm told is that is one of the most delicious fruits. Is there any other fruit you could compare it to so as to give us a better description??

i agree with darlene06. there's no other fruit like durian. the taste, the look, everything. it's most common in asia countries. but when i was in the u.s. i found some durians packed and stored frozen at grocery stores that sells asian stuff. what u get will be the durian flesh only - the part u can eat. its skin has thorns.

Haven't seen nor tasted the fruit itself.Back home, during my elementary days i have tried durian candies. And it tastes good, every time i go out i would buy 4 packs of it and can finish it half day.Heard some info about it,the smell, how to eat it,etc.I've seen one here and it really smells awful, but OMG it's so expensive....somewhere 500 pesos a piece-the size of 2 fist!

Hi darlene, durian is one of my favorite fruits. I ate durian since I was a little girl. I couldn’t help when getting the strong wonderful smell of it but to taste it. Durian is a seasonal fruit and it is harvested only twice a year. I never miss to eat this wonderful tasty fruit during every fruit season. Now is the peak season of durian so we could found heaps of durian along either side of the street. We usually could get quality durian with cheaper price during this golden moment. posting and good luck.

I hate Durian. I had it exactly once in my life and wanted to throw up when I ate it. When I was in Japan and didn't know what it was I came upon an ice cream store and asked the man what Durian was because they had Durian flavored ice cream. He told me, "Smelly fruit. Tastes very bad." I took his advice and didn't try it but months later my friend bought one and I just couldn't resist taking a bite. I wish I had however.

good day...I still need to conquer the scent of durian before I could eat it. I want to but I just need to overcome it.

i'm not sure how much of its smell you can take, but there r lots of types of durians, and some of them r not that smelly. but usually the ones with the strongest smell are the best! or you can try those which has been frozen (usually exported ones) cos they have lost sme of their smell.

Durian is the king of all fruits. From a distance you can sense that the king is about to come, it announces its smell. It smells like an old dirty sock, or a used diaper, it stinks! But once you overcome the smell and started to eat them. you can feel the buttery, smooth, oily mashed avocado taste,so sweet. Its so hard to describe, its so addicting that you wont be able to stop eating until your stomach is full. The first time I encounter about durian is that I wont eat it because of the awful smell. But then when I saw my family eats them like no tomorrow I started to be curious of the taste. What I did was, I close my eyes, hold my breath while pinching my nose open my mouth and chew the durian. You will surely love it. Do not over eat durian. Overeating will cause hyperventillation. You must learn how to control when you start to enjoy durian.

I am a proud resident of Davao but sorry, I really am not a fan of eating Durian. I have nothing against the fruits or its taste. I just had a bad experience with my first try. It was when I was offered a durian and I think it was not edible anymore because it tasted like a putrid "I don't know". I tried to eat durian for like two times already and I don't find deadly. It tastes we;ll but I guess my childhood trauma will always be a factor to make me hesitant to try and eat that fruit. If I am forced and invited to do so, I usually do not refuse. However, I do not take the initiative to buy or taste one.

I love eating durian.. I was born in Jolo Sulu where there are plenty of durian selling in our place aside from Davao.. My younger sister doesn't eat durian because of the smell.. She can't take the smell of the durian and also my niece.. For me, the smell of the durian isn't bad especially the taste of it.. It is really sweet and soft.. I just really love eating durian and it is a very nutritious fruit.. But to bad for those who have an illness like high blood and diabetics it is bad for them because the durian can cause high blood pressure and it is really sweet that can high sugar level.. Actually, they can eat it but not to plenty and after they eat it they need to drink their maintenance..

You are a true Durian lover.Durian for me is flash back to our stay in singapore where people ate the fruit in every form imaginable, from raw fruit to icecreams flavoured in Durian.I can hardly stand the smell let alone try to eat one. It looks similar to Jack fruit which is widely available in India. I will try to get the vitamin boost from some other fruit.enjoy your Durian.:)

I do...I love to do it. In Indonesia, this fruit is called the king of fruit, because many of them likes to eat it. When the season is coming, you can meet this fruit along the street in the market. The local one is more delicious and have stronger effect than the imported one (usually from Thailand). And I choose the local durian because the smell is stronger and the taste won't make you forget it.
