kitten Virus proved fatal for Manchas...has any-one faced a death of a kitten?

A couple of months ago my beloved kitten Manchas died in my girlfriend's arms of a fatal virus, even the vet's had no way of saving her.
Manchas was a funny out going kitty always into serious mischief and strong play with her sister La Negra until this virus struck..
La Negra and Chica survived the sickness but poor Manchas paid the price..what a terrible moment that was for me my girlfriend.
Question for all you cat/kitten owners has this ever happened to you? if so please share.

Yes, Daniel had been acting "off" for a couple of days prior to his passing. He still ate and played, even though I couldn't put my finger on it I knew something was wrong.No one would listen to me and that haunts me to this day.
On the day that Daniel did pass I finally got mad and contacted a different vet than the one I was dealing with-tried to explain that he was "off" By now all Daniel wanted to do was sleep. The vet sent me to get some liquid and told me to bring him in on Monday morning because it was Sunday morning.
I took Daniel with me- he passed in his sleep about twenty minutes after we got home.
Daniel gave me two of lifes greatest gifts- his love(he still has mine) and now doesn't matter who it is,and if any of my boys( i have 5) start being "off" no one and I mean no one stands in my way.
