Here I am fifty two. Am I too old for school? My husbamd left and took all our money ten years ago. I have been strugling raising two children.. It took way too long to decide but I have finally decided to go back to school. I was worried about finances but I will get financial aid. So I need to do my pre recs then I want to go into the Radiographer program. In four to five years I could still be making twelve dollars an hour struglng, or I could be making about eighteen dollars an hour. I work at a hospital now and they will help with my education. I am really looking forward to this and scared at the same time. Its going to be hard for me to learn again. But I have to give it ago. What do you think? Am I too old?

Hi! :) It's never too late to study since learning is a continuous process. No one's too old for education. I know it doesn't sound right coming from a 20-year old. I just graduated college and am planning to take several other courses in the far future after earning from my future jobs. I tend to think how weird it would be if I will be studying with a bunch of youngsters. But I won't mind since I am the one who will be learning and gaining additional information. I can't imagine life without school. Don't mind what others think, it's you who is studying, not them. So go for it and do yourself a big favor :D

Kudo's to you for taking a leap of faith and believing in yourself! Life is full of learning lesson's like it or not. So definitely there is nothing wrong with choosing your lessons in school. You are never to old to learn, grow and better yourself. As I always tell me son, education is the one thing that can't be taken away from you. Education is power! It's your way of arming yourself to take on the world! Good Luck to you.

I think you should definitely go for it! Who cares what your age is? As long as you want to learn, you can! That's all that matters. I think it'd be great if you could get to school and wind up getting paid more for your job. We should never stop learning, in my opinion.

No, your not at all too old! There are alot of people in their fortys and fiftys in my college, and we all get along! They give us advice in relationships. I would definatly recommend going to college! It's so rewarded and you can give your children a better life. Colleges all over have very flexible schedules too, I know mine offers some of their classes online, so you can still work while your attending college. Good luck!

I don't think you are too old at all! My mom went back to get her Masters in her forties, and my dad finished his Masters when he was fifty. Just like you, they had bills to pay and kids to raise, so they had to put off their education. My mom actually didn't get to even try for a Bachelor degree until she was thirty. She was afraid she would forget everything, but she didn't. As as pathetic with computers as my dad is, he even made it through all those term papers at fifty! : )

Never too old!! I have run into at least three or more 50+ students in my classes. I also have a friend whose mom is taking classes, and I'm thinking she's close to 60. It may be some of an adjustment for you, but definitely not out of the question.
Go for it. Improve your life.

Go back to school. You are never ever too old for school. If your work is offering to help you with school or is willing to pay for it and work with you I would do it. Plus, when i was in school or college wather I was in a class with a young lady who was 82 years old. She wanted to learn about computers and wanted to type. SO that just proves my point you are never too old to go back to school.

mam, i read ur story carefully and feel that i should write to you. "one is never too old to learn", though sounds like cliches, i still have to confirm that. Let's look at your problem from the bright side.
First, i should say u r lucky because people in my country will 0.000000001% of chance to re-educate themselves . They will be declined, neighbours and friends will pour scorn on them, many of them have to look after their grandchildren at home.
Second, by learning new skills, your life will become more colorful and this kind of pleasure and its value can not be measured in terms of money.
So, please go ahead, and your difficulties will be overcomed with your strong will. Keep on !

NO, NO, NO. Go for it. It is the best thing you can do for yourself and for your kids. They will learn by watching you go throught it. I was in my early 30's and was going through a divorce and had 2 small kids when I started back to school. I knew that it was the best thing and I never realized what a boost and confidence it gave me. Your degree or schooling is something that you will always have. It is very hard - I will never say it was easy. Working and going to school is tough but I also thinks it makes you want it more and work harder for it. Good Luck!

Hi there! Nope, you are never too old to study in a school. And congratulations! Not all people your age would even THINK of going back to school.. so good for you! take the opportunity, you will not lose anything but instead, gain a lot.. knowledge, new friends, new environment, self fulfillment and so on. Here in our country, many schools offer night classes for those older people. in fact many have graduated HS and college, a lot older than you. Imagine that.
My husband is a lawyer and used to teach one first year law subject.he had one student who was 70 years old. This guy had 3 sons who were all lawyers and 1 was even a judge so he went to law school just for the heck of it. Cool huh?
