All of our current pets were named by my young sister, so they really follow no pattern, have no rhyme or reason, or any other creative means by which some people name their pets. We have a pit bull named Taxi, a mixed cat called Tiki, with her offspring named Oscar and Ace. Taxi recently had puppies, and the one we'll most likely keep was named Ridge by my sister. Some of our past pets were a female pit bull named Ezra, her puppy called King, a Siamese cat called Manfred, twin kittens called Shadow and Bella... That's about it.

I have a cat and her name is Isabelle. I accualy didn't get to name her. My aunt named her because my cats mom is my aunts cat and her cat had 3 kittens on tax day so my aunt named them after the IRS:Isabelle,Randy and Simon.

I have a cat named Thumbkin that my daughter named. He is a polydactyl so he has extra toes and on his front paws he basically has "thumbs" so the name suits him very well. I also have an orange cat named "Butternut". I had always wanted an orange cat and never had one over the years. I was at the veterinarian's office and there were two orange kittens there that needed a home. The longer I sat there waiting the more interested I became in the quieter of the two kittens. It turned out they were brothers and the staff had been calling the more active one Pumpkin and the quieter one Squash. when I decided to adopt the quieter one, I knew I would not call him Squash, but then I thought of butternut squash and so "Butternut" he became. Actually, it is a name that fits him very well as he is a small quiet cat.

Three rescued cats. Grey/Calico mix is Tucker, Gray stripe is Tiger (named by my son of course), and Persian is Spenser! Did anyone have any reason for the names they came up with? Tucker got hers because when we held her when we first got her she would tuck her little head under our chin (awwwww!), Tiger is self-explanatory, and Spenser - well, we were looking at a friend down the road who has one black and one white pug, and I said (being a fan of Robert B Parker's Spenser novels) "hey, if we had those pups we could call them Spenser and Hawke". My son remembered this and (of course he was trying to talk me into taking another animal in) called this guy Spenser! :-)
I like "different" names for my animals instead of Spot, Fluffy, etc...
