How many of you have had c-sections?

I had a c-section on April 26th of this year. I'm just curious to see how many other women have been through this. If you have, how long did it take you to get back to your pre-pregnancy weight? If you have more than one child, did you c-sections with more than one? If so, was it more painful the second time around?

I had a c-section for my twins on March 11th of this year. I was scared out of my mind, but it really wasn't the bad. I would say the worst part is recovering, and trying to get out of those stupid hospital beds the first couple of times. By the 3rd day I was in the hospital, I was walking around like it was nothing... but you also have to be careful not to overdo it. It took me about 2 months to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.

I had to have one, but was many years ago. It wasn't that bad, in my opinion! Would have rather have had it happen naturally, but wasn't meant to be. Only had one, so not sure about more painful 2nd time around.

I had both my children by C-Section. My daughter was a true breach baby, positioned buttocks first. During a routine stress test they did a scan to check her position and found her breach so decided on a C-Section. I had spinal block and got to be awake. I had a very good anistiologist that put a morphine drip piggy back on my IV. I had almost no pain for the first 24 hrs. Pain was managed with little meds while in the hospital and I was sore but not extremly painful for about 3-4 weeks. I over all lost weight with that first pregnancy. With both I had high BP and above average weight gain during the last month. When I had my son I again went in for the same stress test a few days before my due date. I was already in labor and the Dr. sent me over to the hospital. He was going to allow me to go natural and ordered meds to fully induce labor. Within a few minutes of starting moderate contractions my son's heartbeat was slowing too much with each contraction and not recovering very fast in between. So the on call Dr. felt something was wrong and decided to do a C-Section. My throat hurt for over a week from the tube and my arms were weak and sore. I was told that was a side effect of the anisthesia but nobody else I know has ever complained of such after surgery. I found out later they had my arms strapped down in an odd position... The recovery from the C-Section its self was about the same as the first but I had trouble using my arms for about 10 days. This was almost 19 years ago. I think the medical world has improved things a bit since then. I nursed my son for about 5 months and continued to lose weight slowly while I do so and again over all lost weight...now I WISH I could be at my pre-pregnancy weight.Lost sight of that number a long time ago. lol

Hi and Welcome to MyLot!! I had a C-section 25 years ago. Wow, that was a long time ago. lol They had to put me out because the doctor knew I was a weeney and couldn't stand much pain. I remember in the hospital, the next day they wanted me to get up and walk down the aisle. I did, very slowly, and with a pillow on my tummy as my best friend. I thought I would never straighten up straight to walk ever again. lol I remember I had a terribly hard time at home for the first few weeks trying to take care of the new baby. Thank goodness I had a caring husband at the time. I never had to experience it a second time. I didn't do too good the first time so the doctor advised me not to get pregnant again. And I'm sorry, I don't think I ever got back to the pre-pregnancy weight. Happy MyLotting, Char

I can never forget mine, my tummy always reminds me of the one I had on July 2004, loosing weight is not the issue but getting a flatter tummy just as before the baby is a challenge. My son is four years now, my husband still questions me about how long will it take me to loose the weight. I have no answer for that :), belly fat is hard to loose, I could manage to reduce weight around arms and thighs. this has been my new year resolution every year , :))) ha ha ha .I had a normal delivery with my daughter,it was always easier to regain the posture back.In case of C-section with so much of pushing all our abdominal muscles get teared and stretched. eventually we end up with a bulging stomach. so now I convince my husband as this is a medical fraternity, I cannot help myself in flattening the tummy, he needs to spend money for me to have tummy tucking procedure.I heard pilates are good for regaining the shape, go for it, cheers, bye.

I have had 3 sections in the last 4 years. I am back a pre-pregnancy weight. It took me no time at all this time to get back to my weight before pregnancy. Chasing 3 kids around all day , housework and walking outside has helped. The c-sections were not too painful, at least for me. The first one I had was an emergency section. I was in labor for 23 hours, pushed for 3 and still no baby, so off to the operating room I went. The 2nd and 3rd were scheduled but they came before the scheduled date. The only pain I really disliked was from the 2nd one. I got really bad headaches.

Newborn babies. - how many kids do you have? I only have one. I don't think I'll have another one naturally. my son almost died before being born. if I have anymore kids they'll probably be adapted.
I had my c-section done may 29,2004. I was asleep due to heavy sedation of med's. to this day I still don't know how long I was asleep. but I am still battling to get that weight off. this was my first and only child. I still have the scar from that surgery.

I had my CS June 23, 2006. I was awake the whole time. I have really high tolerance for pain and of course, I didn't feel the operation but I did feel a tingling sensation when they started to cut me up. I think it took me about 2 months to go back to my pre-pregnancy weight. When it's cold, my wound hurts a little.

Hi, I had my c-section last year, Sept 04. I think I will never get back my pre-pregnancy weight. I gain a lot of weight during my pregnancy, after the c-section I lose weight but I can't make it to my weight before. I am 5-10 lbs heavier than what I am before. Until now I am trying to win it back but its harder for me. I guess it really takes time for that. For now, I am not thinking for the 2nd time c-section since my doctor advised me that the ideal pregnancy if you're under c-section is atleast 2 years or more. I guess it hurts more in the first time and since we've already experienced it, we can manage to handle the next. :)
