This is not a P1key Spoof!
An eminent (i.e. you've never heard of them) group of scientists in the UK have decided that town planning is the answer to our rowdy drunken behaviour problems. Apparently, the roads in our towns and cities needs to be redesigned so that drunks have an easier stagger home. Apparently this simple change will alleviate all our problems reducing crime, the expense of extra police, courts time etc. Is it me? Or have we finally lost the plot?

What the f***? Have the people in the United Kingdom lost their minds? That is not taking care of the problem, that is saying that it is okay for people to get drunk and drive badly on the roads. Here in the United States of America, people get arrested for drunk driving because we are trying to send a message that it is not okay to drink and drive.

That is the strangest thing that I have heard in a while. They have to reconstruct the road so those that are drunk can stagger home. Wouldn't that be a little costly to do? Is there another way to deal with that? I this part of the discussion that you spoke; of where they were going to move the good citizens out of town and leave the ones that are causing the problems there?

Well, wouldn't it just be easier and cheaper to just make the people whom are drinking pay for a cab ride home? then to redo a whole town..

Yeah, that is understandable. maybe they should charge extra if they upchuck in the car. But it is hard to get that smell out of a car. Believe me I know. My niece is pregnant and she is always throwing up at the slightest thing. They were here visiting and so we offered for them to stay for dinner which was not a good idea..My husband refused to eat after taking only a few bites because she got sick and the sound of it make his stomach almost hurl also.

The Romans already tried it. According to a history book I read recently they also had the problem of binge drinking and anti-social behaviour and they always built straight roads.
The lunatics really are running the asylum.

Sounds great but only if I can make them the way the poem says, 'The rolling English drunkard made the rolling English road.' The more twists and turns the better for me.

Ill just say wwe have some of the best police and ssicentists (credit), anyway I think what they may mean is not so much to adjust them but to repair them, if u are a brit like me(myself being welsh) u will know the state on our roads, some of them are terrible, with tidy work done on pot holes and that it may help, Im not sure about reducing crime though.

oh myG pikey I think we have lost our minds not the
plot, why not straighten out the drunks instead?'
probably be a lot cheaper and maybe more productive
in the long run.So they are blaming the roads, not
the booze? what kind of thinking is that? Or they
arent thinking?eminent in what?

Lovely, isn't it? You have to cater for the drunks now, rather than curbing the behaviour! How about shutting the pubs a bit earlier? In Australia, we have pubs and clubs open until 2am - asking for trouble. We even have railway stations where classical music is played loudly - supposedly to deter muggers and thieves. Unfortunately, you can still mug to the strains of Beethoven's 5th. Try it - you'll be pleasantly surprised!

In theory we have 24 hour drinking. But I can't think of anywhere that does it for real except for special occasions. Reminds me of "Apocalypse Now" with the helicopters playing "The Ride of the Walkyries". Maybe the mugging at the station is one way to beat a little culture into the population!!

Wow!!! I think the world has gone absolutely nuts, if they think that this is the solution. LOL What on earth makes anyone think a drunk can walk a straigh line? haha

Now that is the funniest and the craziest thing i have ever heard. instead of keeping the drunks off the street they are going to make the streets bigger so they won't be in the way!!! wow what a world

they have lost the plot for sure.it would be cheaper and easier to by a booze bus and drive them all home so they don't have to walk.most of our clubs and pubs have booze buses as we call them, and they drive their patrons home.these scientists have definately been in the lab too long.cheers sue

Okay I find this humerous and can only imagine that the scientists that figured this out must be the people doing alot of staggering. I do have one question though if you are that intoxicated and you are walking straight when will they realize they are home lol
Have a great day!

Oh Pikey, Are you serious???What are they doing?
They are going to fix the roads. How are they going to do that? It makes
no sense to me. I could just see them doing that here in the USA. I don't
think so!How is that going to fix the crimes and help drunks?
That must be quite a place you live in. What will they think of next. I
think they should spend more time in some other way trying to get people
to stop committing crimes and drinking by punishing them not helping them
by catering to them.

Every now and again I start a discussion that is complete rubbish, a complete figment of my imagination. I have one running at the moment. Most people have sussed it. I started to do it as a counter to the turgid rubbish that was around one week. But this one is real. Scientists at Cardiff University have come up with this. I thought that I was potty!
