I set myself a mathematical problem to calculate .... like how many minutes have I been alive and I've never stayed awake long enough to get the answer...&, even if I did, it would have changed by the time I've worked it out so I'd have to keep re-calculating. Or I choose a category and try to find an item in that category starting with each letter of the alphabet. Whilst my brain's thinking those sorts of things its not thinking about stuff thats worrying me ot that I REALLY must get to sleep. Having the room the right temperature, dark and quiet helps too.
