Just think of 30 years back , when the postman drops a letter at the mailbox , how eagerly used to people open it to know from where it is. And if some information is to be received from some where, the waiting period for the postman was painful. But at present , the service of a postman is not so imortatnt. Beacuse the use of mobile phone , internet and other modern gadgets making it very fast that we ever thought of. People forgotten to write letters beacuse of the means that we use today. But if you feel like to communicate your feeling , a letter , that to handwitten by you will be more effective than other means

I think that letters are a wonderful way to communicate and a card with a letter means even more to me. These days it is more common for people to send text messages, type emails or speak on the phone. When I went around the world I got letters sent by family and friends to the local post office until I moved on to the next place and then I collected my mail from them. It took one week for people to get my letter and then it took another week for their reply to get to me when I was in Australia. It took between 5 and 7 days for a letter to go from Australia to the UK. My email system times out if I type a long email so to prevent this happening I have save the message a few times whilst typing my letter. When I write a letter it can be as long as I like.
