Let's talk about hemerroids.

Yeah, I know, really gross, right? Well, they affect a lot of people, including myself. I've had them since I was pregnant with my youngest... who is 6 months old. You'd think they would have gone away by now, but no. Honestly I feel like I'm stuck with them for life. I've tried some of the over the counter creams that are supposed to take the pain away. They only seem to work for about 5 minutes. I even had a prescription for medicine, and that didn't help at all. I find it interesting that one of the treatments for hemerroids is fiber. Okay... fiber makes you go, and it hurts when you go.... so why do you want to take fiber?? I have been upping my fiber lately, and drinking a lot of water hoping that will help things. I've become a bit more regular, but I am still terrified about going, lol. So what about you? Do you have hemerroids? Are they really bad, or rather mild? What do you do to help the pain?

I have an elderly neighbour who has them and I took her to a healthfood shop not so long ago to get a liquid called "witch hazel", she had to continuously das this on the the hemerroid and even put some on a tissue and try and keep it on there at night for awhils which she found hard to do...it doesn't make them go away completely but it shrinks them...

The pads and wipes they make specifically for hemerroids have witch hazel on them. That is about the only ingredient. Makes sense to just buy witch hazel instead of spending all that money on a pre-moistened wipe.

oH thats sounds a sore thing to chat about ,they are so painful and uncomfortable too.The over the counter remedies never seem to clear them up too well.

Yes, I do have hemerroids, as a matter of fact I too had them so bad when I was pregnant that I could not walk, I would have to go and get mine lanced. Then after I had my daughter, I had hemerroid surgury, this was back in 1981.Mine were very bad, I had the internal and external ones. But I still have them, but not as bad as before. I have to take stool softeners all my life, and I too must use cream and tucks pads at times.Have you thought about surgury, if yours are not bad like mine were, thee surgury is very simple..

No I don't like the idea of the surgery. I don't want any doctors checking that area out anymore. I have the internal ones only, and I told my doctor about them and she had to examine them. I think the whole building heard me scream. I am never telling another doctor about them ever again!

Hi I really feel for you, especially with young one's around who need holding which adds extra stress on that area. I have had them since I was 19 and they have never gone away. They have gone into a remission period but anything like diahrea, constipation, or lifting a lot of heavy objects can make them flare up again. My Dr. or doctors told me once you have them you will always have them, they may not ever flare up again in your life time but they are there. There was a procedure that I went through twice where they wrap an elastic band around one of the hemerroids as tightly as possible thinking that they would drop off with no blood supply. Well the last time they did that I was in bed with my bottom in a round pillow and a hole in the center for about 5 days. And I still have them. My doctors also said they come in a group of three with one bad one, this was a specialist so I believe him. If yours keep up as bad as they are you might need the surgery, which again is very painfull but any one I know who has had it done does not regret it at all. You are right to take fiber but you could try something a bit stronger in a stool softener so that it is so soft it is not so painfull. If you find ANYTHING that works let me know. Well I hope yours recede and give you some relief soon, all the best. ceciliah

Hi I forgot to mention Tea Tree Oil, try a bit at first cause it might sting for a little while then increase the amount. I found for me with all sorts of wounds etc that it has a sort of freezing affect and is excellent for infections or healing. You have got to remember just a bit at first then as your body get used to it,then it will just freeze and disinfect

I have been putting a bit of Vitamin E oil on mine with a cotton swab. I have heard it is supposed to help. I haven't been doing it long enough or often enough to know if it's working, although it does seem to help the pain after using the bathroom, at least a bit.

Mine went away after I had my kids. I have heard of people getting them surgicaly removed. Call the doctor and ask. I do not know much about the fiber or how that would take care of it.
