Oh Deer ...

Doe and Her Fawn - This doe and fawn came strolling through and I was fortunate enough to grab the camera quickly to snap a picture.

... two of them, actually. This pretty little doe and her darling baby came strolling through the back end of my yard the other day and I was able to get the camera before they scooted off. The fawn still has spots, although they're starting to get lighter as baby grows up. I've got another photo of the fawn alone that I'll post as soon as someone responds here. Aren't they precious?

We saw the deer every day in the fall, and the neighbors told us that they'd come back through with the babies so we've been watching for them. This is the second or third time we've seen one with her little one.

Yes, I am very fortunate for sure. I am renting this tiny old house and it is very much lacking, but the location is wonderful. We have the deer, squirrels, chipmunks, bunnies, and all sorts of birds around all the time.

Young Fawn - Momma Doe had just walked away a few paces so I was able to get this picture of Little Fawn on its own.
Oops, forgot the other picture. Here's the fawn after momma doe walked away a few paces.

They are really sweet, I wish I had things like that passing down the back of my yard it would be wonderful. I just have a tree full of crows at the bottom of my garden! It is a lovely photo though.

I've got loads of birds here too and since I just put up new feeders outside my window, I am catching some beautiful photos.

How beautiful. This is the time of year that we see more deer wandering through yards in search of water and food. I love to see them, especially the babies. Good job.

Cool. We don't get as many as we used to because the dog barks and scares them off. He is behind a fence, but still makes them nervous I guess. They sometimes drink from the birdbath in the front yard. It is a big one and pretty deep.

In this photo they are actually on my neighbor's property that swings around behind mine Just to the left and a few feet behind the deer is a small pond, and they always water there. They come through the small wooded area on the other side of my house twice a day, coming and going to the watering hole.

OMG you are soooo blessed. I'd love to wake up to mother nature frolickin in my back yard. I get excited when a rabbit hops through. I'd pass out if I woke up to deer makin themselves at home. Nature is one of the greatests gifts God blessed us with :) Thank you for you myLot tips too. Yesterday was my first day & I have tons to learn. I've bookmarked your page so I can refer to it frequently. All your efforts are greatly appreciated. Obviously you live a blessed life!!! Thank you for sharing it :))

Are you in a rural location? You seem to have a lot of wildlife. I do, myself. We have had deer run through open doors downtown. I have had coyotes, fox, raccoons, possums, bunnies, and birds of all kinds. O, yes, squirrels and turtles, toads and bugs. LOL. I have not seen deer, or deer sign in our yard, though. I am anxious to see your photos.

Yes, its a fairly rural area. My street still has quite a bit of woods on it, some houses have a bit of land and/or woods between them. We're not in a subdivision. Rabbits, birds, deer are seen all the time, as well as the not so nice ones like mice and moles.

Ah they look so cute. Must be wonderful to live out in the country. Have not seen any deer around where I live, but then we have a rabbit, sparrows, some weird kind of animal that looks like a large weasel (probably escaped from a mad scientist's lab), a fox, dogs, a feral cat, frog, and mice. A friend of mine who moved lives near the railway, and she saw deer there, but she has moved.

we live in a city that contains some rural areas that we have to pass to get to our church and every so often we get to see deer feeding at the roadside which is cool for our kids to see.

Those are great photos and I think the fawn looks just like Bambi. Thank you for sharing the pictures. It's lovely to see them. I like watching wildlife in the countryside and although I live in town I don't need to go far to see deer. There are several species of wild deer to be seen in Britain, including some introduced species which were brought over for hunting on private estates and now live freely in open country.

I love to see them as they come through the area here. There are usually several at a time in the fall/winter, but I don't see them paired up now that they have the babies with them.

Hi my friend, They are adorable! You have a great talent in being able to get photos like that. We live in the city, so we don't see deer that much. About the only time we see them is if we drive on a country road. Sometimes it can be quite dangerous to see or run into them on the roads. I always hope I don't hit one. They are very pretty! Happy MyLotting, Char

A few mornings ago, we had a doe in our front yard, and out in the street in front of our house. She slowly made her way under an oak tree in our yard and then into some trees in back of our home. This was unusual because we live in a busy small town, but we do live a short way from the main road, and the deer are quite numerous this year.

We live out in the country. The deer come through the yard a lot. They can be fun to watch but they also can be a nuisance when they get into the garden. They will spend a lot of time around the apple tree in August and September.

That was a good one, at least you had the camera handy and they didn't run away. We have deer around here but I have not seen them in the yard before. I have only seen them on the side of the road about to cross in groups. There has been times when I have been driving and seen them at night standing close to the road in a field in groups trying too cross the road. I have not hit one though. When driving at night on country roads I try to drive slow and pay attention cause they will come out of now where if your not looking for them. I would like to see them up close like that though, but you took a great shot. Have a good one.

I love deer! My dad lives out in the country and they see deer in their back field but haven't seen any babies this year for some reason and they are so lovely. When I visit in the winter we get to see a lot of them!

With everything going on with the weather and natural disasters and human unrest, perhaps they're hiding them a bit more than usual? It's possible they sense something in the near future that we don't.

We always saw at least 3-4 does at a time in the fall and winter, so I'm surprised we haven't seen more with babies this spring/summer. I've only seen one doe and fawn one other time, and it could be this same set. Wonder what happened to the rest of them?

They are absolutely gorgeous. It is so good that you got a photo in time. We get quite a lot of wildlife visiting, but it's pretty much all nocturnal, and by the time I get a camera it's too late. Well done!

My husband sits on the back porch to smoke, so he's the one that usually sees them and hollers for me. When he does, I know to grab the camera before I go!

That sounds familiar ... my husband also sits out the back to smoke and is the first to see any wildlife. Problem is, normally when he calls me, he scares it away!

Ah...that's great! My dad lives out in the country and has actually set up a feeding area right outside his back door to feed the deer. Took them a while to start coming in, but now, twice a day, the deer come almost right up to his door. They've even gotten so used to him that they will stay there while he puts the feed out for them! But my dad always did have a way with animals. He used to hunt them out of necessity when I was a kid and hated it. Now he says he'd have to be starving to hunt again!
