Easy to handle...your son or daughter?

My son,who is going to 6 this Sept.,came home yesterday with all the test papers from their quarterly exam. The other scores was okay, fairly good but when i got his Filipino subject---of all the subject. All the effort i put into teaching him was wasted. And so i started comparing him to my eldest.I got no problem with her...she was among the top 3 best in school, even in her high school. My sister and brothers have the same problem with their son-mostly.Did any of you have the same experience? Is it true that girls/daughters are far more inclined to learning than boys/sons?Inside the classroom girls tend to listen attentively and boys are playful?Or was it I who is the problem.

I think there's a little truth about this. My eldest son seems not that interested in his study and doing homework is a big issue for him (you have to really push him through before he do it) which is very different to my youngest daughter, she loves to study and do her homework. She also loves to write and colored. Though they both have a good school records (thanks to my wife who really keep it up with them in their studies), I also think that boys can easily be distracted and their attention sway away by other things such as television, video games, etc.

You are correct.Boys get easily distracted by television, anything and everything around them. That's why at times we would start studying at the living area...then my husband would come and open the television or the stereo to listen to some music....Then we have to more inside the bedroom and close all doors.Still he gets low grade.Guess we have to do it over and over again...problem is they get to feel sleepy and cry at the end because they are tired "daw" (according to him).

its not you. i think its true what they say about the difference in boys and girls. my parents never took time with me and i made good grades, etc. i took time with my kids. the boys always had trouble. the girls were fine. my daughter takes time with her kids. 2 boys, 1 girl. the girl does really good. the boys always have some bad grades/

That's the same problem my sister had.She got so much problem with her eldest son. After high school both couple decided not to send him to school for a year. Now the son is on his 3rd year in college and very much into learning and studying-totally opposite during his high school days.I took him some boring times staying at home before realizing the importance of going to school.

My concerns are same here, my elder daughter is very quick in learning new concepts, she could write her name when she was just 3yrs old,she is eight now and a topper in her class. my son who is four years now can hardly hold the pencil in a proper way. this is worrying me a lot, his speech is not clear, sometimes I can hardly make out what he is trying to say. I would agree that boys have lesser concentration or attention span than girls. I wish I had two girls instead of a boy !!!!

I think that is one part and parcel of being a mother. All we have to do is give our best to teach them.Sometimes i just get to think that boys may learn a bit later but who knows who will come successful in the future. We have to be glad that God gave us both boy and girl, some couple have all girls and wished they have boys but not lucky. And some couple doesn't have any....so let's be proud of it though a bit problematic, regarding your son's speech problem..maybe try talking to him more often. Thanks for dropping by.

Maybe I should be keen on observing my 2 children, its a boy and a girl. If this thing is true, maybe I should take an extra effort on my son. Thanks...
