We have had dogs for about the past 14 years now, and boy do I have some interesting stories to tell. You notice I said dogs, plural. We have three dogs. Well, we started out with just one. She was an extremely sweet dog who we named Karen. It seems Karen loved to run, but we only had a small yard, so anytime she got a chance to sneak out, she would take off running. We would try to chase her, but she was as fast as greased lightning. So, we learned to just sit down on the porch, and when she was ready to quit running, she would come to us. Karen was absolutely terrified of thunder storms, and one day, while we were not at home, we had a storm. When we returned home, the first clue that there was a problem was that the front window was broken out. I went in and, sure enough, Karen was nowhere to be found. She had been so terrified that she jumped through the window. We panicked and went out searching for her. We lived in the country, and I got in my car and started driving. Every farmer I would see, I would ask if they had seen a golden-haired dog. Well, after driving around for about an hour, I returned to the development where we lived. As I was coming down the street, I just happened to look over at a car in a driveway, and I thought I saw something under the car. I stopped and went to look, and sure enough, there was Karen huddled under this car. She tried to get out, but she was stuck. A neighbor boy came and put a leash on her collar, and pulled and coaxed until she was able to get out. She was filthy dirty, but she was safe and sound!
