There was a terrible storm here in New Jersey last night. I have never experience such severe thunder and lightening. There was even a tornado watch in the next town over. My cats didn't light the storm at all. Poor Jakie couldn't get out of the window fast enough

We had three of those things come through in Gloucester County where I am. One around 2AM, another one mid-day, I think, and the last one around 5PM. After that, all we had was a torrential downpour around 1AM the next day. I don't remember them being that wild and wicked with the wind - sounded just like those horror movies with the wind blowing the shutters of a Victorian house! Actually whistling. Scared the - well almost - crap out of me!!!

hi raydene wow my husband would have loved that , he was the one who enjoyed thunder storms while I was cowed into going into my bedroom he would stand outside and watch the storm for ages. I am a widow now but I still am a coward when it comes to thunder
storms.I was in my teens when my dad and grandad stood in our screened in porch watching a thunder storm and lightening hit the big elm tree not eight feet from where they were standing. it made a hideous noise and the air was filled with ozone. both of them were actually pushed back by the force of that strike, not hurt just shaken up a bit.My mom and I were in the living room when it struck;really was a loud sound. We rarely ever have thunder storms here but when we do they seem to hover right over us as w e are up higher than the town of Tustin is and we astually live in unincorporated Tustin the city line is just half a block away. lol.

I maybe a big strong wolf but when it comes to thunder and lightening I am a scaredy cat, I hate thunder and lightening especially at night, keeps me awake and all that flashing, I was frightened of thunder and lightening as a child and I guess I never really have shaken off the fear, fortunately we don't get that many and they are never severe here in the UK, not like tropical storms etc, just as well. But don't everyone about me being scared I have a Wolfie image to upheld;0)

We got a bit of BADLY needed rain from Dolly, but really not enough to make that much difference. None the less, it was wonderful to have the temp drop down into the 70's before 4 in the morning. Still, its going to be back in the 100's this weekend so this was just a temporary change.
I, for one, am READY for winter!

In Arizona, we have "monsoon season" from July 15 through September 15. The rain is unreal, and the horizontal lightening is unreal.
