Beijing Olympics--Anyone really care about the Olympics anymore?

I remember as a kid, we used to watch the Olympics with my grandparents. It used to be a huge deal. My grandma would keep a tally of all the medals that the US won. Anyone still care about the Olympics, especially with all the problems that Beijing is having (smog, red algae, etc)?

I may just tune in this year, but I have always been more of a fan of the winter olympics. Since my boyfriend lives in Sweden, and I live in America, it will be interesting to see how his country fairs, so it might be interesting to watch haha. If I am not working I might watch it.

Yes, i enjoy the winter ones more, too. I'm glad that you can share some friendly banter with your boyfriend. For our sake, I hope the US outdoes Sweden:) Enjoy while you watch

I usually follow the Winter Olympics but I am looking forward to these Olympics.The Chinese are great gymnasts and it will be fun to see how they do at home.

The first Summer Olympics I really got into was at Atlanta, the year of America's Magnificent 7.I really got into gymnastics and I been a fan ever since.

I enjoy gymnastics as well. It is amazing some of the things that the men and women can do in these events.

I remember those athletes. They made the Olympics fun and rekindled that spirit somewhat. Maybe some of the athletes this year can do the same.

When I was a kid I never really watched the Olympics because I had a short attention span and I never really got into sports and stuff like that,I spent all my time watching cartoons,now that I am older I watch the Olympics sometimes or I at least check and see which country is winning,but I have not been watching it this year since apparently it has already started.

That is good to hear. I have not kept up on the Olympics a bunch, but just kept hearing so many bad things and problems that Beijing was having. I hope that they get them all cleared up and can represnt their city and country well.

Yes i feel that the olympics is losin its popularity ... We often used to have fever before a month but these days the olympics is just around the care n we dont seem to care ... Moreover my country has watsoever no chance to win even a simple bronze medal so... I dont care
