How do you find the balancing act between mother, wife, woman, maid, cook, taxi driver, and personal time? I am having some trouble with this one!

I know how your feel! I am there too....it runs me down alot! I do have my daughter help me in the house, and it helps but there's just some many other things to do. I have no personal time, cause when I do I feel bad for having it! Do you feel the same?

I do! It was hard at first, but I realized that no one else would stand up for me, and when I took time to do something that made me happy, I was happier around my family, too.

I agree it is very hard, and i realize that even small things are starting to get to me and my daughter is only 2! Things like it seems like laundry is NEVER ENDING! And I can never get the house really clean! Am I the only one? If I give myself some time for myself will it help me let these things go? I don't want to have a house that my daughter is uncomfortable in either (too neat), but everything is annoying me at the moment... Please tell me I am not a bad mother and someone has been through this too!

I'm not sure that there is one right answer. As a woman, you are more likely to put others needs first, and it is a hard habit to change. I make the kids help with the chores. They don't like to do it, but I told them that they are allowed to not want to, but they still have to do them. I started taking a craft project or a book with me whenever I had to take the kids anywhere, so that I had something to do while I was waiting. I also started meeting with others, in a local coffeeshop, to do needlecrafts. It is hard to make the initial change, but you will feel so much better when you give yourself permission to do something for you!

It has really helped me! Of course, my kids have beome interested in my crafts, so I try to have supplies for them, but kept separate from mine. I find stuff cheap at thrift stores and yard sales, and I buy new stuff on sale or with a coupon, so I can afford separate supplies. It gives them something new to do, and it gives me a much needed break. I always have a bag, with a crochet project, a puzzle book, and a book or magazine, ready to go. I have a messenger bag of sketching supplies, a small plastic tool box with card-making supplies, and a tackle box with jewelry supplies. These are all easy to take with me, and I have larger containers (plastic shoeboxes or sweaterboxes) of supplies at home for when I take a few minutes for me. When I want to read but don't have much time, I usually choose light-hearted, fast-reads like Garfield, Family Circus, Peanuts, etc. They put me in a ood mood without making me feel guilty for spending too much time on me. I do have other books, but I reserve them for vacations, rare free days, or an occasional late night. Whatever hobby you choose, it isn't too hard to make a travel pack for it, even if at first it just contains a book or magazine about your hobby, and a notebook and pencil to write down or sketch ideas. Once you find something you enjoy, it will be easier to find take-along projects. Good luck!
