Me and my friend is going on a trip to other city, and we are going to stay at a hotel. But he insisted to pack along toothbrush, toothpaste, towel, blankets... he thinks those are personal things that cannot be replace by the one hotel provided. But I think bringing those thing is somewhat a burden, because hotel rooms always provide those thing. What do you think? do you usually bring those thing when you travel to other city?

Yeah, I pretty much bring all those if I'm going to live in a hotel but I wouldn't think of bringing a blanket. It's too heavy.
I will usually bring, my skincare products, shampoo & conditioner, towel and toothbrush & toothpaste. I sometimes bring slippers too if traveling overseas.

skincare products , shampoo and conditioner I can tolerate, because some people have to use spesific brand for those thing you mention.
yeah, that's what I think for blanket, it's too heavy, but my friend insisted.
But toothbrush? towel? come on, those thing is general right? and also hotel provide fresh and clean one every day. so what's the point in bringing those thing?

I usually take along my travel towel because sometimes the sort of accommodation I stay in doesn't provide towels. However on my last trip every single place that I stayed at provided towels so I didn't use mine at all. I like to have my own toothbrush and paste because I have very sensitive teeth. I am always happy to use the bedding provided in my accommodation. I prefer it if my bed has a duvet and I guess blankets are alright. In the accommodation I stayed in Vilnius, capital of Lithuania, the pillow in bed my was horrible and uncomfortable. So I used my blow up travel pillow instead. When I was in Malaysia I stayed in a dorm and all the beds except the one I was in had bed bugs! Yuck! I have read that if people carry sleeping bags into such beds they may walk away with bed bugs. I traveled around Europe and stayed in youth hostels with my sheet sleeping bag but I wouldn't take my own bedding to tropical countries. I was told that bed bugs can be a problem in any hot place even in Sydney.

I was in Fiji staying in a room with three other girls and one of them screamed. The security guard came in to remove the spider. I sat down in my twin room in Sumatra in Indonesia and noticed a message on the wall. It said "do not sleep here. These beds have bed bugs and flees. Check out now" so that really scared me. I asked to change to a different room and I got a triple room. I slept in the middle of a double bed and could hear something running over my plastic bag that was on the floor, mice or rats I guess. In Fiji a girl woke up with a cockroach on her pillow. Oh, my! She screamed. These bug like moments are ones I remember from my many travel experiences. Yucky bugs!
